摘 要｜本研究將探索翻譯質(zhì)量評(píng)估的科學(xué)方法，并借此研究譯前編輯對(duì)翻譯質(zhì)量的影響，力圖填補(bǔ)譯后編輯領(lǐng)域的研究不足。通過客觀的評(píng)分系統(tǒng)，本研究結(jié)果表明，合理的譯前編輯和預(yù)處理能夠顯著提升文本對(duì)機(jī)器的適應(yīng)度，進(jìn)而提高機(jī)器翻譯的精準(zhǔn)性和質(zhì)量。

一、引言

隨著科技的快速更新，機(jī)器翻譯（Machine Translation，MT）在翻譯行業(yè)中發(fā)展迅猛。從最早的基于規(guī)則庫的語法和詞匯知識(shí)系統(tǒng)，到統(tǒng)計(jì)機(jī)器翻譯（Statistical Machine Translation，SMT），再到谷歌2016年推出的神經(jīng)機(jī)器翻譯系統(tǒng)（Neural Machine Translation，NMT）以及2023年初出現(xiàn)的ChatGPT，都標(biāo)志著機(jī)器翻譯的不斷改進(jìn)和發(fā)展。如今，機(jī)器翻譯已經(jīng)成為主流，并且常常與譯后編輯相結(jié)合。但是，對(duì)于某些特殊領(lǐng)域的文本和復(fù)雜句子，機(jī)器翻譯仍然效果不佳，需要大量的譯后編輯工作，從而降低了整體翻譯效率。相反，譯前編輯在機(jī)器翻譯之前對(duì)需要翻譯的文本或文檔進(jìn)行有針對(duì)性的修改編輯以提高機(jī)器翻譯產(chǎn)出的質(zhì)量（馮全功，2017：63-68）。然而，由于人們翻譯實(shí)踐中的思維習(xí)慣或者時(shí)間壓力，譯前編輯常存在于譯后編輯的陰影下，其角色常被忽略，其作用常被低估。

本文以湖南省人民政府門戶網(wǎng)站發(fā)布的《湖南省優(yōu)化營(yíng)商環(huán)境規(guī)定》為材料，以百度翻譯和DeepL為機(jī)器翻譯工具，進(jìn)行漢譯英機(jī)器翻譯實(shí)踐，主要探析譯前編輯對(duì)機(jī)器翻譯質(zhì)量的影響。本文先回顧了譯前譯后編輯和翻譯質(zhì)量評(píng)估的研究現(xiàn)狀，再對(duì)機(jī)器翻譯的試句結(jié)果進(jìn)行質(zhì)量評(píng)估，以檢驗(yàn)譯前編輯對(duì)翻譯質(zhì)量的影響，最后介紹本研究的結(jié)果和意義。

二、譯后編輯和譯前編輯的研究現(xiàn)狀

從國(guó)內(nèi)外對(duì)譯后編輯和譯前編輯的研究來看，主要關(guān)注點(diǎn)在兩個(gè)方面，一是對(duì)翻譯效率的影響，二是對(duì)翻譯質(zhì)量的影響。首先，關(guān)于對(duì)翻譯效率的影響，根據(jù)OBrien（2007）的研究，譯后編輯時(shí)包含消極翻譯指征的句子會(huì)導(dǎo)致整體編輯速度變慢，例如較長(zhǎng)的名詞短語和動(dòng)名詞會(huì)對(duì)編輯負(fù)荷有較大的影響。Garcia（2011）進(jìn)行了英漢雙向翻譯后編輯的研究，發(fā)現(xiàn)在逆向翻譯（漢譯英）時(shí)，譯后編輯可以顯著提高速度。此次，關(guān)于譯前譯后編輯對(duì)翻譯質(zhì)量的影響，Barreiro（2011）介紹了SPIDER系統(tǒng)，這是一種用于文檔編輯和修訂中的改寫系統(tǒng)，適用于機(jī)器翻譯譯前編輯。通過收集實(shí)際的譯前編輯實(shí)例，以提高機(jī)器翻譯系統(tǒng)的翻譯質(zhì)量。Rei Miyata（2017）進(jìn)行了針對(duì)日語到英語的翻譯實(shí)驗(yàn)，共收集了400個(gè)源句子的12687個(gè)譯前編輯實(shí)例，結(jié)果表明，超過85%的源句子被MT系統(tǒng)準(zhǔn)確翻譯。

而國(guó)內(nèi)主要研究譯前和譯后編輯的方法和策略。袁亦寧（2003）提出將“受控語言”（controlled language）引入譯前編輯，此舉意在限制句子的表達(dá)，使其能被機(jī)器翻譯系統(tǒng)理解。胡清平（2005）則更進(jìn)一步討論了受控翻譯及其前景和設(shè)想，認(rèn)為受控語言是解決自然語言使用中的隨意。魏長(zhǎng)宏（2008）提出格式轉(zhuǎn)換、使用受控語言、建立翻譯記憶庫等手段。黃越悅（2017）、曹媛（2018）和陳麗（2020）則重點(diǎn)分析了機(jī)器翻譯中譯前編輯的幾種方法，包括句法機(jī)構(gòu)調(diào)整、增補(bǔ)、省略、提前翻譯術(shù)語、補(bǔ)充標(biāo)點(diǎn)符號(hào)等。

總而言之，隨著機(jī)器翻譯和翻譯實(shí)踐的發(fā)展，譯前和譯后編輯的研究和應(yīng)用也應(yīng)該不斷前進(jìn)和調(diào)整。首先，從知網(wǎng)上的論文數(shù)量來看，以“譯后編輯”為主題的中英總庫文章超過800篇，而以“譯前編輯”為主題的文章只有不到70篇，顯示出譯前編輯的研究明顯少于譯后編輯。但事實(shí)上，譯前編輯在確保翻譯質(zhì)量方面起著至關(guān)重要的作用，它可以幫助機(jī)器更好地理解原文。其次，如何確定編輯后的譯文質(zhì)量得到提升？這的確缺乏客觀標(biāo)準(zhǔn)，主要是因?yàn)榉g本身就是一項(xiàng)藝術(shù)，難以將其完全量化。然而，我們可以通過與原始文本的準(zhǔn)確度、流暢度、一致性等因素進(jìn)行比較來評(píng)估翻譯的質(zhì)量。

三、翻譯質(zhì)量評(píng)估

本文采用翻譯多維質(zhì)量標(biāo)準(zhǔn)Multidimensional Quality Metrics（MQM）對(duì)譯前編輯前后的譯文進(jìn)行評(píng)估，來比較譯文質(zhì)量的變化。MQM翻譯質(zhì)量評(píng)估系統(tǒng)可以對(duì)人工翻譯和機(jī)器翻譯進(jìn)行翻譯質(zhì)量評(píng)測(cè)，它提供了一種標(biāo)準(zhǔn)化的方法來評(píng)估翻譯質(zhì)量，它由本地化行業(yè)標(biāo)準(zhǔn)協(xié)會(huì)（LISA）開發(fā)，現(xiàn)在由全球化和本地化協(xié)會(huì)（GALA）維護(hù)，并以兩個(gè)國(guó)際標(biāo)準(zhǔn)為體系基礎(chǔ)：（1）ISO DIS 5060：2022，翻譯服務(wù)—翻譯產(chǎn)出的評(píng)估—通用指南；（2）ASTM WK46396：分析性翻譯質(zhì)量評(píng)估的標(biāo)準(zhǔn)做法。

MQM系統(tǒng)基于一組指標(biāo)，涵蓋翻譯質(zhì)量的各個(gè)方面，這些指標(biāo)包括若干個(gè)維度，比如準(zhǔn)確性、流暢度、術(shù)語、風(fēng)格、一致性和文化適應(yīng)性。每個(gè)指標(biāo)都被分配0至4的分?jǐn)?shù)，其中0代表完全不符合該指標(biāo)，也就是說沒有出現(xiàn)該錯(cuò)誤；4代表最符合的程度，表示該錯(cuò)誤很明顯。評(píng)估者可以使用這些分?jǐn)?shù)計(jì)算翻譯的整體MQM得分，該得分可用于比較不同翻譯的質(zhì)量或跟蹤隨時(shí)間的改進(jìn)（總分100分）。需要注意的是，由于錯(cuò)誤類型眾多、文本類型多樣，評(píng)估者應(yīng)該只選擇他們需要的那些錯(cuò)誤類型，并根據(jù)特定內(nèi)容類型的質(zhì)量要求和利益相關(guān)者的要求來評(píng)分。

本文將根據(jù)MQM翻譯質(zhì)量評(píng)估體系對(duì)所有被試句子進(jìn)行評(píng)分，包括沒有進(jìn)行譯前編輯的一組和進(jìn)行了譯前編輯的一組，以比較譯前編輯前后的評(píng)估分?jǐn)?shù)，探究譯前編輯對(duì)翻譯質(zhì)量的影響。

四、譯前編輯方法探究

譯前編輯即通過對(duì)文本的改寫和調(diào)整，使其更容易被機(jī)器翻譯系統(tǒng)所理解，最終幫助我們提高翻譯實(shí)踐的質(zhì)量與效率。上述提到的譯前編輯方法可以分為多種，但總體來說可以分為大三類：切分組合、轉(zhuǎn)換擴(kuò)充和適當(dāng)刪減。

（一）切分和組合

第一種是需要切分的情況，因?yàn)橹形闹泻芏嚅L(zhǎng)句不見句號(hào)，還有很多并沒有體現(xiàn)邏輯和結(jié)構(gòu)，所以在漢譯英時(shí)，譯前編輯可以嘗試多進(jìn)行適當(dāng)?shù)臄嗑洹６硪环N需要組合的情況，漢語重意合，句子以動(dòng)詞為中心，有很多流水句，一般不需要介詞、連接詞和分句，所以譯前編輯可以選擇組合詞句的方法。

句子1：依法必須進(jìn)行招標(biāo)的項(xiàng)目以特定行政區(qū)域、特定行業(yè)的業(yè)績(jī)、獎(jiǎng)項(xiàng)作為投標(biāo)、加分和中標(biāo)條件。

第一，從術(shù)語維度來看，“投標(biāo)、加分和中標(biāo)”的翻譯需要更貼合語境，錯(cuò)誤較為明顯；第二，準(zhǔn)確性不高，原文重點(diǎn)是“項(xiàng)目以若干指標(biāo)作為投標(biāo)條件”，但是機(jī)器翻譯譯文把重點(diǎn)放在了“項(xiàng)目進(jìn)行投標(biāo)”；第三，語法方面基本符合英文語法規(guī)則；第四，譯文風(fēng)格與原文相差不大，基本符合要求；第五，表達(dá)方式不夠自然，需要進(jìn)一步改進(jìn)。

以句子1的百度翻譯結(jié)果為例，基于以上分析，各維度罰分和最后總分如表1所示。

原句第一個(gè)頓號(hào)之前的“招標(biāo)的項(xiàng)目”是后面一連串介詞短語“以特定行政區(qū)域、特定行業(yè)的業(yè)績(jī)、獎(jiǎng)項(xiàng)作為投標(biāo)、加分和中標(biāo)條件”的修飾對(duì)象。由于后面介詞短語部分過長(zhǎng)和復(fù)雜，可以選擇把這兩部分分開的方法，使機(jī)器更明晰句子結(jié)構(gòu)，以免誤解整句的修飾對(duì)象。

譯前編輯后：依法必須進(jìn)行招標(biāo)的項(xiàng)目，以特定行政區(qū)域、特定行業(yè)的業(yè)績(jī)和獎(jiǎng)項(xiàng)作為投標(biāo)、加分和中標(biāo)條件。

原句是典型的中文流水句，邏輯體現(xiàn)不強(qiáng)，所以可以通過加連接詞體現(xiàn)其層次，幫助機(jī)器理解。添加“則”體現(xiàn)行為的結(jié)果，并用“且”緊密連接前后兩個(gè)平行條件，防止翻譯機(jī)器系統(tǒng)分開理解。

譯前編輯后：企業(yè)取得建設(shè)用地后，則可以對(duì)已經(jīng)實(shí)行區(qū)域評(píng)估且符合適用條件的審批事項(xiàng)，實(shí)行告知承諾制辦理。

句子太長(zhǎng)時(shí)，機(jī)器不好做出判斷，在句子3中有多個(gè)動(dòng)詞，如“授權(quán)”“辦理”“提供”“告知”“承諾”等，可以預(yù)判機(jī)器容易弄錯(cuò)其中的邏輯關(guān)系或主動(dòng)和被動(dòng)關(guān)系，所以譯前編輯可以做切分處理。

（二）轉(zhuǎn)換和擴(kuò)充

語言的表達(dá)方式因文化、時(shí)代、地域等因素而異，因此直接將一種語言中的句子直譯成另一種語言中的句子可能會(huì)導(dǎo)致信息的丟失或誤解。在進(jìn)行翻譯時(shí)，適當(dāng)?shù)臄U(kuò)充和轉(zhuǎn)換可以讓翻譯更符合目標(biāo)語言的語言習(xí)慣和表達(dá)方式，同時(shí)使翻譯更加流暢易懂。此外，有時(shí)原文中含有語言的一些特有的表達(dá)方式，而這些方式在目標(biāo)語言中并不存在，因此在翻譯時(shí)需要進(jìn)行適當(dāng)?shù)霓D(zhuǎn)換和替換，以便更好地傳遞原文的意思。

句子中意思的重復(fù)會(huì)誤導(dǎo)機(jī)器。每種語言都有冗余現(xiàn)象，中文也存在一些語言的冗余，比如一些范疇詞和修飾詞（趙剛，2004：57-62）。因此在句子9中我們?cè)谧g前編輯時(shí)可以刪除“好差評(píng)”，這不僅不影響原文意思而且能夠幫助機(jī)器更好地理解文本。

譯前編輯后：健全政務(wù)服務(wù)績(jī)效由企業(yè)和群眾評(píng)判的制度。

五、MQM翻譯質(zhì)量評(píng)估分?jǐn)?shù)

評(píng)估結(jié)果分為兩大組：未進(jìn)行譯前編輯的譯文和進(jìn)行了譯前編輯的譯文，并使用了兩個(gè)主流機(jī)器翻譯網(wǎng)站進(jìn)行機(jī)器翻譯處理，從表2可以看出，經(jīng)過譯前編輯后，句子質(zhì)量得到顯著提升，人工譯前編輯對(duì)機(jī)器翻譯質(zhì)量有積極作用。

六、結(jié)語

本研究首先探討了科學(xué)的翻譯質(zhì)量評(píng)估方法，以MQM質(zhì)量評(píng)估體系為基礎(chǔ)，提供更科學(xué)的評(píng)分指導(dǎo)，減少了主觀因素的影響。以此為基礎(chǔ)，我們研究了譯前編輯對(duì)翻譯質(zhì)量的影響，試圖填補(bǔ)譯前編輯領(lǐng)域的研究不足。研究結(jié)果表明，譯前編輯普遍對(duì)譯文質(zhì)量產(chǎn)生積極影響。未來的研究需要更多關(guān)注譯前編輯對(duì)于提升譯文質(zhì)量的潛力，探索合理的譯前編輯和預(yù)處理方法，以提高文本對(duì)機(jī)器的適應(yīng)度，以滿足不同領(lǐng)域和場(chǎng)景的翻譯需求。

The Impact of Pre-Editing on the Quality of Machine Translation

Abstract： This study seeks to explore scientific methods for evaluating translation quality and investigate the potential impact of pre-editing on translation quality， aiming to fill gaps in post-editing research. Utilizing an objective scoring system， our results indicate that rational pre-editing and preprocessing significantly enhance text adaptability for machines， ultimately improving machine translation accuracy and quality.
