A lot of children feel that they are forced to read at school from an early age. Schools often focus on getting better results instead of encouraging pupils to read for enjoyment. Books are usually graded in levels. If a child is stuck at a certain level, he may feel like he is failing to keep up with his classmates.
To encourage students to read, it is beneficial to choose books that are funny and enjoyable. Have you watched the movie Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? It was all based on the book of the same name by an author called Roald Dahl. He wrote many stories that are loved by both children and adults. Most British adults remember reading these stories when they were young because they are very funny. Reading doesn’t have to be a serious thing. If you find a book that can make you smile, then look for books by the same author. It doesn’t matter what you read, as long as you enjoy it.
Research shows that children who read for enjoyment have better reading and writing skills, more imagination, a broader vocabulary, a deeper understanding of different cultures, and more social skills.
Some books are popular among both kids and adults. Why not ask your parents to read the same book as you? Then you can discuss what you like or dislike about it. Try carrying a book or magazine in your bag when you travel or go on holiday. You will find that you enjoy reading more than playing games on your smartphone.
Developing a love for reading takes time, but the rewards are worth it. Authors don’t write books in order to make readers fall asleep or throw them away. Keep exploring different books, and you will find something that you can’t put down.
1.Why do a lot of children hate reading?
2.What does the writer think of reading books for enjoyment?
The book which has influenced me the most
I used to think the life is not so valuable. So whenever I met some trouble, the first thought in my mind was giving up. However my life has completely changed since I met the book To Live.
The story of the book is about a man called Fu Gui. He used to have a lot of money. After a turning point of his life, his family members died one by one. He fully tasted the deepest pain. He was still working with smile on his face instead of giving up his life.
It is the book which has influenced me most. What’s the fate gives you, just accept it. I was touched deeply. From it, I have learned how to face the difficulty in my life. I won’t be afraid of any problems.
I didn’t think life was so valuable in the past.
文章使用了復(fù)合句,但出現(xiàn)語法錯(cuò)誤,“What’s the fate gives you”應(yīng)該改成“Whatever the fate gives you”。
如“I was touched deeply.”
The book which has influenced me the most
I didn’t think life was so valuable in the past. Whenever I met some trouble, I wanted to give up. The book To Live has made a great difference to me .
The book is about a man called Fu Gui. He used to have a lot of money but he gambled and lost all. It’s the turning point of his life. Then his family members died one by one. He had to work hard in cold winter, despite enduring the deepest pain. But he still worked with smiles on his face. I was touched deeply.
There is no doubt that the book has influenced me the most. It taught me to accept whatever the fate gives me. I have learned how to face the difficulties. I won’t be afraid of any problems!
小作者對(duì)時(shí)態(tài)的把握比較準(zhǔn)確,能根據(jù)內(nèi)容靈活轉(zhuǎn)換時(shí)態(tài),如詞語“used to”和句式“The book To Live has made a great difference to me .”“It’s the turning point of his life.”
