Smiling depression
People with smiling depression tend to appear happy to others while actually suffering depressive symptoms.
The main reason is that they are ashamed of being weak and reluctant to ask for psychological help. Consequently, they are seized by loneliness and helplessness, increasing the chance of ending their lives. To cope with this, only when they admit the condition can they start making a difference. Then they can take the attention away from themselves and place it onto something else, such as working out regularly. They can also turn to psychologists for professional help.
