MaoZedongandtheFirstHistoricalResolutionoftheCPC
ShiZhongquan
Abstract:Mao Zedong played a decisive and key role in formulating the first historical resolution of the CPC. This resolution, presided over and drafted by Mao Zedong, underwent 15 months of repeated discussions and revisions before its finalization. The foundation of the first historical resolution of the CPC was rooted in the Yan’an rectification movement initiated under Mao Zedong’s leadership. It was initially drafted based on Draft Conclusions on the Central Leadership Line Issue Since the Fourth Plenary Session of the CPC Central Committee outlined by Mao Zedong during the expanded meeting of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee in September 1941, where he discussed historical issues of the CPC. Mao Zedong personally ensured the grasp of significant historical issues of the CPC, ultimately revised, and included it in Selected Works of Mao Zedong, becoming the currently widely accepted official version. A comprehensive, historical, and dialectical approach to this monumental historical document is a scientifically appropriate attitude towards the first historical resolution of the CPC and, likewise, towards our revered great mentor, Mao Zedong.

In recent years, domestic scholars have interpreted and constructed various aspects of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important exposition on striving in unity , including the conditions of its formation, its main connotations, and the demands of the times, generating relatively rich research outcomes. However, there are still shortcomings such as insufficient comprehensive and three-dimensional displays, insufficient theoretical analysis, and insufficient comparative studies. A comprehensive summary of the current research status and prospects for future research suggests the need for further systematic organization, emphasizing the depth of research, enhancing systematic interpretation, highlighting the systematic nature of the research, and strengthening theoretical interpretation to underscore the academic nature of the research.

TheMethodologicalSignificanceof“IWillFullyCommittothePeopleandNeverFailThem”to“TheSecondCombination”
LiGangHeTingChenXinlin
Abstract: The important assertion “I will fully commit to the people and never fail them” predates the proposal of “the second combination” but carries the methodological significance of “the second combination”, enriching the spiritual connotations of Marxism adapting to the Chinese context and the needs of times. In this crucial statement, “people” belongs to the category of Marxism, while “selflessness” belongs to the category of fine traditional Chinese culture. By integrating the two, for Communist Party members, it bridges the spiritual and cultural roots, intertwines character and wisdom, and harmonizes purpose and realm. It fully demonstrates the profound compatibility between Marxism and fine traditional Chinese culture, serving as a shining example of the brilliance of “the second Combination”.

“GreatProject”and“GreatRevolution”:DualPurposeinMaoZedongThoughtontheParty’sSelf-Revolution
LiuZonglingWangXingyuan
Abstract:During the period of new democratic revolution, socialist revolution and construction, Mao Zedong consistently regarded self-revolution as a guiding principle. With the courage and spirit of self-revolution, he confronted internal issues within the Party, decisively corrected erroneous thinking, rectified undesirable styles, and punished corrupt behaviors. He forged a powerful Marxist party through these efforts, and the exploration and practice of self-revolution evolved into a well-defined and richly-connoted self-revolution thought. Looking back at history, Mao Zedong focused on the dual purpose of constructing the “great project” and leading the “great revolution”, he refined the strength of the Communist Party of China (CPC) through the essence of self-revolution, activating the CPC’s mission awareness. In the new era, the Party continues to advance the “two great revolutions”, achieving the great cause of the CPC through the spirit of self-revolution. Mao Zedong’s thoughts on Party’s self-revolution provide important insights for the Party’s construction work in the new era. Currently, we must integrate self-revolution into all aspects and the entire process of party construction, innovate effective approaches to self-revolution while inheriting and developing, and activate the powerful driving force of self-revolution in guiding the process of the great social revolution.
