In terms of educational theory and philosophy, middle school and high school are almost lidentical. The concept in both is to present the students with specialized classes in each subject and have the classes separated so that one class does not 2)interfere with the other. Of course administrators and teachers have to take into 3)consideration the speed at which the students can learn. Thus middle school courses generally are little bit slower and little bit easier and material than the high school classes. Most middle school classes are intended to be a foundation for courses that will later be taken in high school.
One of the most obvious differences between middle school and high school is the size. Most of the time, multiple middle school students will feed into the same high school, meaning that the number of students in high school can be double, triple, or even 4quadruple what it was in middle school. Not only that, but class sizes will be larger, and there will be lots of new people to meet.
The best way to handle this change is to approach new people with an open mind. Instead of trying to stick to your existing friend group, try talking to any unfamiliar people in your classes, get to know them, and make new friends.
Another major difference between middle school and high school is that high school is when students begin to think seriously about their futures in general and college in particular. In order to getinto college, high school presents an increase in the amount of work a student has to complete, both in class and as homework.? High school students often complain about the heaviness of their workload; however, it's important to get used to this, as it's a good way to prepare for the college.
