The Medical College of Tongji University rises in“Deutsch Medical School”established in 1907.It consists of the following departments:Basic Medicine Clinical Medicine，Nursing Care，Biological Engineering and the 10th People＇s Hospital，Tongji Hospital.Eastern Hospital，Pulmonary Hospital and the 1st Maternity and Infant Health Institute of Shanghai，etc.There are more than 5000 beds in all.

Medical Doctors Degree of clinical medicine is conferred in the College.There are many excellent talents，including 1 academician of Chinese Academy of Medical Science，and 143 tutors for students who study for doctorates here.The College takes on a lot of important scientific reseach items and programmes in many fields of medicine，for examples，“stem cells”，“Immunology”，“Cancer”，“gerontology”and“Traditional Chinese Medicine”.
