Household chores(家務(wù)),such as cooking and washing clothes, often end up at the bottom of many of our to-do lists. Some people even think that these tasks should be taken care of by our parents.
According to a study by Beijing Academy of Educational Sciences, primary and middle school students in China only spend 12 minutes a day on chores on average, compared to 72 minutes in the US, 42 minutes in South Korea, and 30 minutes in France. Doing chores at home seems to be the last thing that students want to do.
However, these life skills are important and should be taught as part of labour education. In 2020, the Ministry of Education(MOE) made a rule that labour education should be included as a compulsory course(必修課) for senior high school students at all levels around the country.
Labour education, also called education on the hardworking spirit, includes different areas from household chores to in-school labour and community volunteer services.
According to China Youth Daily, the labour course will take six credits(學分), the same as foreign language and physics. Volunteer service, as a part of labour education, will be worth two credits. The MOE also asks students to perform at least 40 hours of volunteer service during the full three school years. Through such education, students are expected to learn basic living skills and develop good working habits for better personal improvement. Chores can also teach teamwork, problem-solving skills and give people a sense of pride in a job well done.
What aspects does labour education include according to the passage?
Developing Labour Education
Labour education is an important part of education. It can teach the students about the skills of life, such as how to keep the house clean.
I usually do housework at home, such as washing clothes, sweeping the floor and cooking meals. I think I can learn a lot from doing housework.
In my opinion, we should have labour lessons to learn some basic life skills at school once or twice a week. We can also have a cooking competition to encourage students to learn how to cook.
All in all, we should try to develop good labour habits and value the importance of labour through our labour education experiences.

As teenagers,it is necessary to have the sense of the responsibility for the family and society." In my opinion, different kinds of labour classes should be offered at school." Besides, schools should provide us with more chances to work as volunteers in our community.
In a word, it is not only meaningful but also necessary for us to receive labour education. Participating in labour education will benefit us throughout our lives.
