My favorite book
My favorite book is Walden by Henry David Thoreau. I like it because it represents a tranquil life which always makes me peaceful.
Set in Thoreau's personal experiences, the book focuses on the seasonal changes that Thoreau observed while he stayed at Walden Pond and things normal people would fail to do. Difficult as it is to read, Walden possesses a unique style which raises the book to the level of a literary classic. If you want to experience life instead of living a worldly life,Walden is the very book to be.

Dear Peter,
Knowing from your last letter that you are quite interested in Chinese masterpieces, I am more than pleased to recommend a novel called Ordinary World to you.
Ordinary World, a masterpiece by Lu Yao, is set in the 1970s and 1980s, and tells the stories of ordinary people of all walks of life as well as the extraordinary changes in China during that period. Having read this novel several times, I am profoundly touched by some people's unfortunate fates and their optimism and determination to make a change. They have been striving for their future, whatever difficulties they are faced with. Truly, it is a book well worth reading.
I hope you will also like it.
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua

He asked Captain Walton to chase the monster and kill him.
Paragraph 1:
Approaching the doorway, Jenny took a deep breath. With great courage, she knocked at the door gently but there was no answer from inside. She found the door was locked and apparently her mother was not in. “Where could mum be?” she wondered. Looking around, she found no sign of her mother except the rusty road lamp throwing a dim light on the ground. “Mum must have been out looking for me,” she thought to herself.Tired and sad, she sat down in front of the house. The scene of the quarrel, the seller's words and her mother's care for her all flooded into her mind. She felt rather ashamed, and tears began to roll down her cheeks.
Paragraph 2:
A gentle touch on her hair called her mind back. She raised her head and saw the familiar face of her mother. Jenny couldn't help throwing herself into her mother's arms. “Mum, I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have said so many mean words to you and thank you for all you have done for me.” She expressed her sincere apology and great gratitude. Hearing this, her mother smiled, patting her back gently and said, “Everything's all right now, sweetie! ” When Jenny walked inside and saw the tasty dishes prepared by her mother, she was so moved and decided that she would never be rude to her mother again.

第二節(jié)
Paragraph 1:
But these books were far from enough. To ensure children get access to more books, Sadiya took pictures of the library and uploaded them online, calling on students to donate books to the children's library. Before long, hundreds of new and second-hand books poured in, but they needed checking, classifying and arranging in order on the shelves, which took Sadiya, her uncle and her cousin a whole week. Tired as Sadiya was, a smile lit up her face when she pictured the scene where children were buried in reading by the book-filled shelves.
Paragraph 2:
With everything ready, the library finally opened. Several children stepped in curiously, asking Sadiya, “Can we read the books?” “Sure! Welcome! ” Sadiya encouraged them. Some chose what they liked, while others hesitated. Realizing they had trouble reading, Sadiya gathered them in a corner, teaching them from the very beginning. Soon more children joined in. Every night Sadiya spared some time to give lessons so that more children could gain knowledge from the books. Sadiya's efforts opened the wisdom door for them, which would surely make a great difference to their lives.
