分析語篇特點,讓“七選五”閱讀題講評課更高效

為了檢測學(xué)生的語篇意識,新高考的閱讀理解題較過去多設(shè)置了“七選五”的題型。語篇內(nèi)容具有連貫性。而“七選五”閱讀理解題著重考查學(xué)生對語篇內(nèi)部連貫性的理解。因此借助語篇的特點講解“七選五”閱讀題的解答技巧,可以達(dá)到事半功倍的效果。下面筆者將以一次“七選五”閱讀題講評課為例,闡述如何利用語篇的特點上好“七選五”閱讀題講評課。

一、利用語篇的體裁

語篇的內(nèi)容不是雜亂無章的,是按照一定的話題和話題間的連貫性有規(guī)律地展開的,這種語篇的組織模式既能體現(xiàn)作者的思維模式,又能體現(xiàn)語篇的宏觀認(rèn)知結(jié)構(gòu)。在平時的教學(xué)中,教師如果能有意識地從宏觀地角度介紹一下題目語篇的體裁,講解不同體裁的常見結(jié)構(gòu),那么學(xué)生在解題時,有些題就可以迎刃而解了。

比如一次“七選五”閱讀題講評課上,學(xué)生對兩處空格有爭議。原題如下:

After a long hard day at work, many of us look forward to nothing more than some much-needed rest at home, such as getting absorbed in a video game, or settling in with a great read. 1 . This conclusion comes from the recent research of Kingston University.

The survey-based study looked at 123 adults and assessed (評估) their entertainment preferences along with their interpersonal skill levels. 2.The questions included how they deal with certain social situations. The results showed something surprising about how we engage with (與......建立密切聯(lián)系)these mediums (媒體). Postgraduate research student Rose Turner found an obvious link between bookworms and their levels of empathy (同情)and kindness. 3“This study shows that the different ways that people engage with fiction can impact their emotional itelligence (情商)and behaviors”, Turner explained.

So what is it about reading a book and being a bookworm that helps you practice empathy and kindness and improve your interpersonal skills? Well, interestingly enough, Turner believes that its the missing information in the literature that drives people to use their powers of empathy.“When we read, we go by what is simply written and we have to fill in the gaps as we go along. It gives us a chance to develop empathetic skills. 4,”Turner said.

The truth of the matter is that readers have to dig deeper when it comes to understanding the characters in their preferred form of fiction.When you watch a show, everything from the characters feelings to their actions is laid out for us on the screen. 5 .Its just that act that could help bookworms improve their kindness and social skills no end.

學(xué)生爭論的焦點在第1題和第3題,選錯的學(xué)生認(rèn)為第1題也可以選擇F,第3題可以選擇E。雖然課上選錯的學(xué)生在爭論時觀點被反駁,但是這些學(xué)生仍然還是感到困惑,對自己犯錯的原因一知半解。課后筆者詢問原因,了解到雖然在他們出錯后筆者也講解了句子之間的邏輯關(guān)系,但是這部分學(xué)生害怕下次換一篇文章還是會出錯。筆者反思自己的教學(xué)情況,發(fā)現(xiàn)在語篇體裁和常見的篇章模式方面給學(xué)生講解得太少。這道題是一篇說明文。很多學(xué)生在這兩個空上選錯,說明他們對說明文的語篇模式和句子之間的連接手段不清楚。第3題考查的不僅是句與句之間的邏輯連接,而且考查學(xué)生對整個語篇結(jié)構(gòu)的理解把握。

教師在講解說明文語篇時,應(yīng)該向?qū)W生說明語篇的寫作目的,如介紹某一事物的含義、特點、功能、演變等,讓學(xué)生清楚該類語篇的一般結(jié)構(gòu)。引起學(xué)生爭論的這篇語篇屬于概括——具體模式(general——specific)結(jié)構(gòu)。該語篇的大致結(jié)構(gòu)如下:

語篇模式不僅可以讓學(xué)生對語篇的結(jié)構(gòu)有宏觀的了解,而且有助于學(xué)生把握每段的主題大意。第1題屬于概括段落題,該段介紹“多閱讀可以讓人變得善良”這一研究結(jié)論,而第3題屬于細(xì)節(jié)題,第3題所屬的這一段先闡述了研究對象“123 adults”和研究目的“assess their entertainment preferences along with their interpersonal skill level”,然后介紹了研究方法“questions”,緊接著就是研究發(fā)現(xiàn)“an obvious link between bookworms and their levels of empathy and kindness”和第3題的內(nèi)容。通過后一句Turner的話,我們可以推斷出該研究有兩個發(fā)現(xiàn)“emotional intelligence and behaviors”。所以第3題應(yīng)該選擇F,F(xiàn)闡述的是另一個發(fā)現(xiàn)。如果選E,那么就和前一句闡述的發(fā)現(xiàn)重復(fù)了。文章第三段和第四段分別闡述讀書可以提高同情和社交技能的原因。

二、利用語句的銜接關(guān)系

英語里語句的銜接關(guān)系分為很多種。其中連接是指在一個句子之內(nèi),在小句之間,通常有連接成分把它們聯(lián)系起來,表示小句之間的邏輯——語義關(guān)系和相互依賴關(guān)系。第1題選E是因為前一句說到“getting absorbed in a video game, or settling in with a great read.”這一句在暗示讀者二選一,所以E句“If your choice is to be a page-turner, you are likely to rank high on kindness”中“your choice”實現(xiàn)了與前一句的連接,而且選項E的“a page-turner”通過詞匯替代實現(xiàn)與前一句的“a great read”連接。

“七選五”閱讀題主要考查學(xué)生對文章的整體內(nèi)容和結(jié)構(gòu)以及上下文邏輯意義的理解和掌握。在平時講評“七選五”閱讀題時,教師要關(guān)注對體現(xiàn)語句間邏輯關(guān)系的詞的講解,如因果關(guān)系: so, therefore, thus, hence, as a result/consequence等;并列關(guān)系: first, then/ next, both, and, on the one hand, on the other hand等;轉(zhuǎn)折或讓步關(guān)系: however, nevertheless, though, although, yet, otherwise等;遞進(jìn)關(guān)系: also, whats more, furthermore, moreover , additionally, in addition, on top of等;例證解釋關(guān)系: for example, for instance, such as, that is等;時間順序關(guān)系: (開始)at first/at the beginning of/ in the beginning; (然后)after a while等;總結(jié)詞語in brief/ conclusion, in a word, to sum up, all in all等。

綜上所述,《普通高中英語課程標(biāo)準(zhǔn)(2017年版)》提出要求:識別語篇中新舊信息的布局及承接關(guān)系;理解語篇成分之間的語義邏輯關(guān)系,如:次序關(guān)系、因果關(guān)系、概括與范例關(guān)系;能識別語篇中的時間順序等。因此英語教師不僅要引導(dǎo)學(xué)生解答“七選五”閱讀題,還要引導(dǎo)學(xué)生了解命題者為什么挑選語篇中的這些句子設(shè)題,這些句子體現(xiàn)了特定體裁下的哪些語篇模式的考點,體現(xiàn)了哪些語篇成分之間的語義邏輯關(guān)系。這樣不僅能提高學(xué)生對語篇的宏觀把握能力,還能提高學(xué)生的邏輯思維水平,對培養(yǎng)高中生的英語寫作能力也大有裨益。
