一、情態(tài)動詞should與could的用法

1. should的用法

should為情態(tài)動詞，表示勸告、建議，意為“應(yīng)當(dāng)，應(yīng)該”，它和其他情態(tài)動詞一樣，沒有人稱和數(shù)的變化，后接動詞原形，“should+動詞原形”表示“應(yīng)該/應(yīng)當(dāng)做某事”。其否定形式為“shouldn't+動詞原形”，表示“不應(yīng)該/不應(yīng)當(dāng)做某事”。

You shouldn't argue with your parents. 你不應(yīng)該和你父母爭吵。

Maybe she should say sorry to you. 也許她應(yīng)該跟你說對不起。

2. could的用法

could既是can的過去式，意為“可以/可能”，表示過去的能力，又可以作情態(tài)動詞表示謹(jǐn)慎、客氣的建議，后接動詞原形?！癱ould+動詞原形”表示“可以做某事”，其否定形式為“couldn't+動詞原形”，表示“不可以做某事”。

You could go out and buy her some medicine. 你可以出去給她買些藥。

You could be more careful. 你可以更仔細(xì)些。

二、知識遷移

提建議的其他表達(dá)方式：

1. 用Why not...？ 提出建議，表示“何不……？”，not后接動詞原形。Why not...？實(shí)際上是Why don't we / you...？的簡略形式。

Why not meet at the school gate at eight？ 何不8點(diǎn)在校門口見面？

Why don't we stay here another day？ 我們?yōu)槭裁床辉谶@兒再待一天呢？

2. 用“Would / Could you please...？”來提出建議或請求。此句式中的would / could并非是動詞過去式，而是表示說話者的語氣較為委婉。

Could you please tell me how to get to the post office？ 請你告訴我怎么才能到郵局好嗎？

Would you please go hiking with me？ 和我一起去遠(yuǎn)足好嗎？

3. 可以用“Will you...？”表示委婉地提出建議或請求。

Will you go to Jinan with us？ 你和我們一起去濟(jì)南好嗎？

4. shall用于第一人稱疑問句，表示征求對方意見。

Shall we go swimming this afternoon？ 今天下午我們?nèi)ビ斡竞脝幔?/p>

Shall I open the window and close the door？ 我把窗戶打開，把門關(guān)上好嗎？

5. 可以用“Let's...”來提出建議或征求對方意見。

Let's make it a little earlier， OK？ 我們把時(shí)間定早一點(diǎn)好嗎？

6. 用“What about / How about...？”提出建議，about是介詞，后面要接名詞或動名詞。

What about writing back to him about it？ 要不要就這事給他回一封信？

How about going for a walk？ 去散散步怎么樣？

7. 用“Would you like...？”來提出建議，意思是“你想要……嗎？”，would you like后可接名詞或動詞不定式。

Would you like a cup of tea？ 你想要杯茶嗎？

回答建議的表達(dá)方式

1. 同意對方的建議時(shí)，一般用：Good idea. / That's a good idea. / OK. / All right. / Yes， please. / Yes， I'd love to. / No problem. / I agree with you. / Sure. / Of course. / Certainly. / Yes， I think so.

2. 對對方的建議表示拒絕時(shí)，一般用：I don't think so. / Sorry， I can't. / Sorry， but... / I'd love / like to， but... / I'm afraid...
