Dr. Skinner is a very nice and polite2 man， and he has a very good friend， Bob. Bob is a gray3 pigeon4 with green eyes and red feet.

One day， Bob and Dr. Skinner had a bad fight. Bob said angrily5 to Dr. Skinner， “I dont like you. I dont want to play with you anymore.” And then Bob went back to his room. Dr. Skinner was worried， but Bob would not speak to him.

有一天，鮑勃和斯金納博士吵得很厲害。鮑勃生氣地對(duì)斯金納博士說(shuō)：“我不喜歡你，我不想再和你玩了?！比缓篚U勃就回到了自己的房間。斯金納博士很擔(dān)心，但鮑勃不愿意和他說(shuō)話。

Bob was too young， and he did not know where to get food. Bob played and ate with Dr. Skinner every day， and Dr. Skinner would make food for Bob.

鮑勃太小了，它不知道去哪里找食物。鮑勃每天都會(huì)和斯金納博士一起玩耍和吃飯，斯金納博士會(huì)給鮑勃做食物。

The first day， Dr. Skinner cooked food and asked Bob， “Bob， it is time for lunch. Would you like to eat with me？” Bob was still angry at Dr. Skinner， so he said， “No， Skinner. I will feed myself.” So Dr. Skinner ate by himself.

However， Bob did not know how to feed himself. He knew there were food in the fridge6， but he did not want to go out and see Dr. Skinner. Bob did not eat anything in the first day， and he was hungry.

可是，鮑勃不知道怎么自己找吃的，它知道冰箱里有食物，可是它不想出去碰見(jiàn)斯金納博士。第一天，鮑勃什么也沒(méi)吃，它很餓。

The second day， Bob was staying in his room. He felt hungry and bored. Bob thought， “I can play with myself.” Then Bob started dancing around the room， pecking7 around and making face.

第二天，鮑勃呆在自己的房間里，它覺(jué)得又餓又無(wú)聊。鮑勃想：“我可以和自己玩?！比缓?，鮑勃開(kāi)始在房間里跳舞，到處啄，還做做鬼臉。

Bob played for a while， then he found it was not funny playing with himself and he felt very hungry. “I will go out， apologise8 to Skinner， have some food， and play with him，” Bob thought. Bob opened the door， and was surprised to find that there was some food behind the door.

鮑勃玩了一會(huì)兒，發(fā)現(xiàn)和自己玩并不好玩，而且它覺(jué)得很餓?！拔乙鋈?，向斯金納道歉，吃點(diǎn)東西，和他一起玩。”鮑勃想。它打開(kāi)門(mén)，驚訝地發(fā)現(xiàn)門(mén)后有一些食物。

“Oh， look what I have found here？ A whole9 plate10 of food！I dont have to apologise to Skinner anymore.” Bob was really happy when he and Dr. Skinner played together11， but Bob did not want to apologise. “Why there is food behind my door？” Bob thought at night. “It must be the god12 of pigeons helping me.”

“哦，看，我在這里找到了什么？一整盤(pán)的食物！我不用再向斯金納道歉了。”鮑勃和斯金納博士在一起玩的時(shí)候真的很開(kāi)心，但是鮑勃不想道歉。“為什么我的門(mén)后會(huì)有食物呢？”鮑勃晚上想，“一定是鴿神在幫我?！?/p>

The third day， Bob felt hungry again. He opened the door， but there was nothing behind the door. “Why no food today？ Am I doing anything wrong？” Bob thought. “Maybe I should dance.” Bob danced for a while， but there was still nothing behind the door. Bob felt abandoned13 and hungry. “I will go out， apologise to Skinner， have some food， and play with him，” Bob thought. Bob opened the door and there was some food again.“Maybe its not the dance，” Bob thought.“I should try pecking around and making face next time.”

第三天，鮑勃又覺(jué)得餓了。它打開(kāi)門(mén)，可是門(mén)后什么也沒(méi)有?！盀槭裁唇裉鞗](méi)有食物？我是不是做錯(cuò)了什么？”鮑勃想，“也許我應(yīng)該跳舞?！滨U勃跳了一會(huì)兒舞，但門(mén)后還是什么都沒(méi)有。鮑勃覺(jué)得自己被拋棄了，而且它很餓?！拔乙鋈?，向斯金納道歉，吃點(diǎn)東西，和他一起玩?！滨U勃想，它打開(kāi)門(mén)一看又有一些食物。“也許不是跳舞的問(wèn)題。”鮑勃想，“我下次應(yīng)該試試啄來(lái)啄去，做做鬼臉?！?/p>

The next day， Bob felt hungry again. He pecked around the room and made face the whole morning， but there was not any food behind the door. Bob felt unhappy and hungry. “I will go out， apologise to Skinner， have some food， and play with him，” Bob thought. Bob opened the door， and found Dr. Skinner was cooking in the kitchen. “I am sorry， Skinner， my friend，” Bob apologised sincerely14. “Can I have some food？”

接下來(lái)一天，鮑勃又覺(jué)得餓了。它在房間里啄來(lái)啄去，做了一上午的鬼臉，可是門(mén)后沒(méi)有任何食物。鮑勃覺(jué)得又傷心又餓，它想：“我要出去，向斯金納道歉，吃點(diǎn)東西，陪他玩。”鮑勃打開(kāi)了門(mén)，發(fā)現(xiàn)斯金納博士在廚房里做飯。“對(duì)不起，斯金納，我的朋友?！滨U勃真誠(chéng)地道歉，“我能吃點(diǎn)東西嗎？”

“Sure， this is for you，” Dr. Skinner smiled and gave Bob the plate. Dr. Skinner and Bob were friends again.

“當(dāng)然可以，這是給你的。”斯金納博士微笑著把盤(pán)子拿給了鮑勃。斯金納博士和鮑勃又成了朋友。

Bob never told Dr. Skinner about the god of pigeons， and Dr. Skinner never told Bob， that he put food behind Bobs door every day.

鮑勃從來(lái)沒(méi)有告訴過(guò)斯金納博士鴿神的事，斯金納博士也從來(lái)沒(méi)有告訴過(guò)鮑勃，他每天都在鮑勃的門(mén)后放食物。
