Once upon a time there was a mother duck. The eggs that she had cared for were starting to hatch. One, two,three, four little ducklings crawled out of their eggs.

The mother duck was very happy... until she saw the last duckling come out of its egg. It was huge and gray instead of little and yellow.

從前有一只鴨媽媽，她精心呵護(hù)的蛋馬上就要孵化了。一只、兩只、三只，四只小鴨子破殼而出。鴨媽媽非常開心，直到她看到最后一只從蛋殼里出來(lái)的小鴨子。他長(zhǎng)得又大又灰，不像其他的小鴨子又小又黃。

“Oh my goodness!” she said. It was the ugliest duckling she had ever seen!

How did this happen?! “Go away! Go away!” the mother duck cried. The ugly duckling was heartbroken, so he left to find a new family.

“哦,我的天！”她說(shuō)。這真是鴨媽媽見過(guò)最丑的小鴨子。怎么會(huì)這樣？！“走開！走開！”鴨媽媽哭著說(shuō)。丑小鴨心碎了，他只得離開這里去尋找新家。

The ugly duckling wandered for a long time until he grew up and came to a lake. On the lake he saw two beautiful swans. He admired their lovely,long necks and snow white feathers.

丑小鴨四處游蕩了很長(zhǎng)時(shí)間，直到他長(zhǎng)大了，來(lái)到一個(gè)湖邊。在湖面上他看見有兩只美麗的天鵝，他多么羨慕他們可愛的長(zhǎng)脖子和潔白的羽毛啊。

“I hope I could be as beautiful as them,” he said and swam to them. Suddenly, he saw his reflection in the lake. He looked just like those swans. In fact,he was not an ugly duckling at all, he was really a swan. He had found his true home!

“我希望我能像他們一樣美麗?！彼f(shuō)著便游向他們。突然，他看到了自己在湖里的倒影，長(zhǎng)得和那些天鵝一模一樣。事實(shí)上，他根本就不是一只丑陋的小鴨子，他真的是一只天鵝。他找到了自己真正的家！
