為什么一天24小時(shí)總覺(jué)得不夠用,因?yàn)槊?,很忙,特別忙……busy,very busy,so busy...。
Be tied up這個(gè)短語(yǔ)可以解釋為:to be very busy and unable to speak to anyone,go anywhere.
1)Mrs Moran is tied up in a meeting at the moment, but I’ll ask her to call you later.
2)I’m afraid I can’tmeet with you on Mondayat3:00.I’llbetied up allMonday afternoon.
Someone is too busy or has too much going on to be able to do or become involved with anything else.
1)I really wish that I could babysit for you tonight, but I’m afraid my hands are full at the moment.
2)Normally I’d pass a project like this on to Dave, but his hands are quite full this month.
這句話可以解釋為:extremely busy(with something);deeply or overly involved (in something);Eyeball的意思是“眼球”,形容工作堆積如山,已經(jīng)堆到眼前了,同樣用來(lái)形容某人非常忙碌的狀態(tài)。如:
There’s no way I can take a vacation right now.I’m up to my eyeballs in work at the moment.
I’ve been working for 20 hours. I’m overloaded.
