“蝠云”的設(shè)計(jì)和建造是紐約州立大學(xué)布法羅分校人文學(xué)院“流動(dòng)文化”系列活動(dòng)的一部分。
它們是一組懸掛的容器吊頂,用于給蝙蝠提供棲身之地。遠(yuǎn)遠(yuǎn)望去,那些容器有如一片云,盤(pán)旋在樹(shù)中。在近處仰視時(shí),能看到掛在每個(gè)容器里的植物。黃昏時(shí)分,觀察者還有機(jī)會(huì)目睹蝙蝠或其他野生動(dòng)物從這些棲息之巢中現(xiàn)身。

Bat Cloud was designed and built as part of the University at Buffalo Humanities Institute's "Fluid Culture" Event Series.
Bat Cloud is a hanging canopy of vessels that is designed and constructed to support bat habitation.From afar, the piece appears like a cloud, hovering in the trees. Closer up, viewers from below would be able to see plants hanging from each vessel. At dusk,onlookers would hopefully be able to catch sight of bats or other wildlife emerging from the habitation vessels.
Each vessel is formed in a way to allow bats to enter and inhabit its uppermost portion. The lower volume of each vessel is filled with soil and native plants. The vessels are also designed so that bat guano would collect in the soil-filled planting area, thus fertilising the vegetation. The lowermost portion of each vessel is constructed in a way to allow for slow water drainage.□

8 部件圖解/Diagram, components每個(gè)容器都由3個(gè)部件組成:室外結(jié)構(gòu)籠、室內(nèi)棲息籠,以及位于下部的用來(lái)盛裝泥土和植被的碗形部件。為了組裝這個(gè)容器,我們使用一種等離子切割機(jī)(或類似機(jī)器),在不銹鋼絲網(wǎng)上按畫(huà)好的圖樣切割。然后,根據(jù)圖樣折疊每片絲網(wǎng)。部件A和B用保溫材料纏起來(lái)。部件C上鋪一層椰子襯墊。最后將這3個(gè)部件用螺絲組裝在一起/Each Vessel is comprised of 3 components: the exterior structural cage, the interior inhabitation cage, and the lower bowl-shaped component to hold soil and vegetation. To fabricate the Vessels, use a Plasma Cutter (or similar machine) to cut the drawn patterns in Stainless Steel Wire Mesh. Fold each piece according to patterns. Wrap insulation material construction between Component A and B. Add layer of Coco mat lining above Component C. Assemble the 3 components and bolt layers together.

胡戎叡:與一般人類居所扎根大地、為荷載所累的情形不同,“蝠云”給人以截然不同的印象,這種為蝙蝠提供的居所,雖然只是采用懸掛的形式,卻也給人以一種克服重力后漂浮在半空的感覺(jué)。不銹鋼材質(zhì)的蝠云采用類似立體構(gòu)成中折紙的手法制成,容器內(nèi)部還做了功能分區(qū)、潔污分區(qū),從外到內(nèi)都顯得非常精巧。這些蝠云給人最深的印象就是它們采用懸掛的固定方式以及由此帶來(lái)的流動(dòng)性。
朱捷:盡管蝠云只是很小的裝置,但設(shè)計(jì)師盡可能地考慮了多方面的用途和精巧實(shí)用的細(xì)節(jié)。一組“蝠云”也輕松地與周?chē)匀痪坝^融為一體。照片中設(shè)計(jì)師在“蝠云”下方露出的燦爛笑容,顯露出他們對(duì)自然和生活認(rèn)真的態(tài)度。

HU Rongrui: Different from regular dwelling space for human beings that are rooted in the earth and bears with burdens, Bat Cloud impresses people with its entirely distinctive image. As a habitat for bats in a hanging form, it gives a clue that the device has overcome gravity, floating in the air. The Bat Cloud, made of stainless steel, is built through a method like paper folding in three-dimensional structure; in addition, functional and clean-dirt partitions are made inside the vessels, demonstrating a delicate structure no matter from the inside or from the outside. The most impressive element of the Bat Cloud is its fl oating form and the sense of fl uidity created by the structure.
ZHU Jie: Though Bat Cloud is a small installation, its designers try to include multiple functions as well as exquisite and functional details. A group of Bat Clouds could melt into the natural landscape. As the photography presents, the designers smile under the Bat Cloud, showing their earnest attitude towards nature and life.
