Guizhou's Non-ferrous Industry Records Total Assets of RMB 77 Billion and Employs a Number of Domestically Leading Technologies

It's learned from the Guizhou Provincial Commission of Economy and Information Technology on January 18 that by the end of December 2017, the Guizhou Province's non-ferrous industry had recorded total assets of RMB 77 billion, an increase of 1.33 times compared to the end of 2013, showing an overall trend of steady growth.

It's reported that Guizhou's non-ferrous industry is dominated by aluminum and aluminum processing and also covers the mining, dressing, smelting and processing of a small amount of titanium, gold, antimony and other non-ferrous metals. In recent years, Guizhou's non-ferrous industry has achieved rapid development and become one of the province's pillar industries. In particular, Guizhou's aluminum industry has developed an industrial system that integrates exploration, mining, smelting and processing, and ensures appropriate operations and management. The industry has built a certain foundation and achieved a certain scale. At present, Guizhou has 125 enterprises above the designated size engaging in the non-ferrous industry. Their main products are 4.6 million tons of alumina, 1.29 million tons of electrolytic aluminum and 1 million tons of aluminum products.

According to the relevant director, in order to further improve work efficiency and achieve energy conservation, emission reduction and environmental protection, Guizhou's aluminum enterprises have actively developed and applied new technologies, and are gradually shifting from low-end products to medium- and high-end products based on market needs. The Alumina plant of Chalco Guizhou Branch has employed a number of domestically leading technologies including plate-type evaporation and dissolution using the Bayer process. Enterprises such as Zunyi Aluminum Industry and Anshun Aluminum Industry have undergone technological transformation by upgrading original low-end pre-baked cells to 400KA cells to achieve energy conservation, emission reduction, environmental protection and quality improvement. According to statistics, Guizhou's 400KA or larger modern pre-baked cells account for 41.3% of the province's total electrolysis equipment, rewriting the history that the province only had 350KA or smaller pre-baked electrolytic cells before the 12th Five-Year Plan period. According to the plan, by 2020, Guizhou's non-ferrous industry will endeavor to achieve a total output value of RMB 100 billion and basically develop an industrial system that features an excellent property rights system, an excellent product structure and an excellent power supply method.
