I search for the light switch on the wall because the room is1）eerilyblack and silent. When I find it, I nervously make my way over to the gray2）swivel chair that sits before the microphone. And the light attached to my microphone turns3）crimson redas I speak almost in a whisper, “I am Bianca Brooks.”

That was the moment I found my voice. In a recording studio, I found out who I was. I became a storyteller of nonfiction4）prose.Behind the thick,5）steel doors, I found my6）sanity. The7）juxtapositionof the studio with where I come from is like night and day. To many of my teachers, I was the8）smart aleck.I was the ten-year-old9）hellion.I was told to face the corner and remain silent. But I realized at a very young age that people aren’t made to be silent.
