【Abstrac】As a college student， its very essential to learn the classics of The Communist Party of China （CPC）. This passage gives a glance of xis report and gives a general introduction to it. Apart from the title and the theme of the report， some highlights are also being discussed.

Oct. 18th， 2017 is a big day for Chinese people. The Communist Party of China （CPC） opened the 19th National Congress at the Great Hall of the People at 9 sharp in this morning. Xi Jinping， General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee， on behalf of the 18th Central Committee of the CPC， delivered a report at the opening session of the 19th CPC National Congress. This report attracted the whole worlds attention for its great significance. The whole passage of the report consists of more than 30 thousand words. It lasted for more than 3 hours and received applause of 71 times.

The title of the report is to secure a decisive victory in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects and strive for the great success of socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era. The title of the report is corresponding to the theme， which is remain true to our original aspirations and keep our mission firmly in mind， hold high the banner of socialism with Chinese characteristics， secure a decisive victory in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects， strive for the great success of socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era， and work tirelessly to realize the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation.

In the report， President Xi looks back on the past five years work and some historic changes. He said that we have achieved a lot in many aspects including economic development， deepening reform， democracy and the rule of law， theoretical and cultural fronts， improvement of living standards， ecological civilization， strengthening the armed forces， work related to Hong Kong， Macao， and Taiwan， diplomacy on all fronts， strict party governance etc. He expressed his thankfulness to people in all walks of life on behalf of the 18th Central Committee of the CPC. However， as he said， there are still some shortcomings， difficulties， and challenges in current China， we must work hard to solve it. Xi also makes it clear that we are far more closer to the aim of the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation than any other historical times.

In his report， there are also some other highlights we need to pay attention to. Firstly， he told us that with decades of hard work， socialism with Chinese characteristics has crossed the threshold into a new era， which is a era of continuing a new historical context to strive for the success of socialism with Chinese characteristics. This is a new historic juncture in Chinas development. This new era also sees China moving closer to center stage and making greater contributions to mankind. Secondly， The principal contradiction facing Chinese society has evolved from that between the ever-growing material and cultural needs of the people and backward social production into that between unbalanced and inadequate development and the peoples ever-growing needs for a better life. Thirdly， The CPC has drawn up a two-stage development plan for the period from 2020 to the middle of the 21st century to develop China into a “great modern socialist country.” In the first stage from 2020 to 2035， the CPC will build on the foundation created by the moderately prosperous society with a further 15 years of hard work to see that socialist modernization is basically realized. In the second stage from 2035 to the middle of the 21st century， the CPC will build on having basically achieved modernization， work hard for a further 15 years and develop China into a great modern socialist country that is prosperous， strong， democratic， culturally advanced， harmonious， and beautiful. Fourthly， Thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era has rolled out as a guideline that must be adhered to and steadily developed on a long-term basis for all Party members and all Chinese people in their efforts to achieve national rejuvenation. To achieve this， we need to carry out 14-point basic policy accurately.

The 19th National Congress is an important meeting in a critical time. The whole world is focusing on its development. We college students also need to learn it by our heart. Reading and interpreting Xis report is just a beginning. As the Chinese saying goes， the last leg of a journey just marks the halfway point. We younger generations should have ideals， ability， and a strong sense of responsibility to make our own contribution to achieve national rejuvenation.
