Ob jectiveTo investigate the influence of environment on despressive-like behavior in DISC1 transgenic mice.MethodsSixteen C57BL/6 wild-type mice were randomly assigned into two groups, the WT-stress group and the WT-control group.Sixteen C57BL/6 LBDDISC1 transgenic mice were also randomly assigned into 2 groups, the DISC1-stress group and the DISC1-control group. The WT-stress group and the DISC1-stress group received daily 3 h maternal separation for six consecutive days and chronic unpredictablemild stress for21 consecutive days. The sucrose consumption and the forced swimming test were used to evaluate depressive-like behaviors. The changes of bodyweightweremeasured.ResultsThere was no interaction(P>0.05)between environment and gene associated with the preference for sucrose solution. However, the preference for sucrose solution was lower in the DISC1-stress group than in the rest 3 groups(P<0.01).Interaction between environment and associated with the immobility time was significant(P=0.010)in the forced swimming test. The immobility time was longer in the DISC1-stress group than in the WT-control group(P<0.01).The bodyweightwas lower in the DISC1-stress group than in the rest 3 groups(P<0.01).But the interaction of environment can gene associated with bodyweight was not significant(P>0.05).ConclusionThe interaction of gene and environment can induce depressive-like behavior in mice.
