小朋友們，新的一年又到了！新年又稱元旦，你們知道元旦的來歷嗎？我國和世界上大多數(shù)國家和地區(qū)采用公歷紀(jì)年法，把1月1日定為新年的開始，稱作“元旦”?！霸庇惺贾猓暗敝柑烀鞯臅r間，也通指白天。元旦，便是一年開始的第一天?！霸币辉~，最早出自南朝梁人蕭子云《介雅》詩：“四氣新元旦，萬壽初今朝?！?/p>

January 1stis New Year’s Day,the first day of the year on the modern Gregorian calendar as well as the Julian calendar used in ancient Rome.New Year’s Day is a global public holiday.元月一日是新年，是現(xiàn)代公歷和古羅馬儒略歷中每一年的第一天。新年是一個全球性節(jié)日。

The Romans dedicated this day to Janus,the god of gates,doors,and beginnings.The month of January was named after Janus,who had two faces,one looking forward and the other looking backward.羅馬人把這一天獻(xiàn)給Janus——掌管門和開始的神。元月就是以Janus來命名的。傳說中他有兩張臉，一個往前看，一個往后看。

Most countries in Western Europe officially adopted January 1stas New Year’s Day somewhat before they adopted the Gregorian calendar.西歐大多數(shù)國家官方早在他們采用公歷前就把元月一日作為新年了。

The old year,for better or worse,is gone for good.January 1strepresents the fresh start of a new year and the passing of the previous year.Radios,televisions and newspapers start to say good-bye to the old year and to plan and expect the coming new year in early December.不管是好還是不好，舊的一年永遠(yuǎn)過去了。元旦代表過去一年的結(jié)束和新的一年的開始。廣播、電視、新聞報紙?jiān)缭?2月就開始回顧過去的一年和展望即將到來的新年。

Many people make New Year’s resolution on New Year’s Day,planning and promising something new in the coming year.很多人都在元旦做自己的新年規(guī)劃，計劃或打算新的一年要開始做的事情。

慶賀新年的開始，歡度元旦可說是世界各地的普遍習(xí)俗。在我國，元旦是國定假日。由于世界各國所處的經(jīng)度位置不同，各國的時間也不同，因此，“元旦”的日期也有不同。如大洋洲的島國湯加位于國際日期變更線的西側(cè)，它是世界上最先開始的一天的地方，也是最先慶祝元旦的國家。而位于國際日期變更線東側(cè)的西薩摩亞則是世界上最遲開始新的一天的地方。按公歷計，我國是世界上第12個開始新年的國家。
