We have often seen on the film screens stories about gun battles in Chicago’s streets and we know little about the city’s rich culture life.我們經(jīng)常在電影屏幕里看到芝加哥街上的槍?xiě)?zhàn)片,我們對(duì)于這個(gè)城市豐富的文化生活了解得可能很少。
In fact,it has one of the first class symphonies in the US and it has always been producing world famous singers and jazz greats.事實(shí)上,芝加哥有美國(guó)一流的交響樂(lè)隊(duì),培養(yǎng)了很多世界著名的歌手和爵士大師。
Museums are its another cultural establishment.The University of Chicago,famous for sociologists,economists and Nobel Prize winners,is one of 50 colleges and universities in the city.博物館是芝加哥另外一個(gè)文化產(chǎn)物。芝加哥大學(xué)是美國(guó)排名前五十名的大學(xué),以培養(yǎng)社會(huì)學(xué)家、經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)家和諾貝爾獲獎(jiǎng)獲得者而著名。
The former world’s tallest skyscraper,Sears Tower,is also there.The Chicago Herald Tribune Building looks much more magnificent with the lights on at night.The two splendid towers of Marina City are called“A Pile of Pennies”by the English and “Ears of Corn”by the Americans because of the way they are built.曾經(jīng)的世界最高樓——希爾斯大樓,也坐落在芝加哥。芝加哥先驅(qū)論壇報(bào)大廈夜晚燈火輝煌十分壯觀。這座濱海城的兩個(gè)輝煌的塔以修建方式命名,英國(guó)人修建的被稱為“便士樁”和美國(guó)人修建的叫“麥穗”。
