Ⅳ. 閱讀理解(本題30分,每小題2分)
閱讀下列三篇短文,從每題所給四個選項中,選出一個最佳答案。
A
A man got a new car and he was very proud of it. One day, when he came back home, he saw his three-year-old son happily hitting the new car with a toy hammer. He broke off the paint on the car. The man was so angry that he ran to his son, grabbed the hammer from him, and used the hammer to hit the little boys hands as hard as he could as punishment. The poor boy cried out loud but his father didnt care.
When the father calmed down, he took his son to the hospital as fast as he could. Although the doctor tried to save the broken bones, he had to cut the fingers from both of the boys hands in the end.
When the boy woke up in the hospital and saw his hands, he innocently(天真地) said, “Daddy, Im sorry about your car.” Then he asked, “But when are my fingers going to grow back?” The father felt very sad.
Think about this story when someone steps on your feet or when you wish to take revenge(報復(fù)). Think first before you lose your patience with someone. Cars can be repaired, but broken bones and hurt feelings often cant.
People make mistakes. We are allowed to make mistakes. We often fail to remember the difference between the people and their actions. We forget that forgiveness is greater than revenge.
Think before you act.

Mark was walking home from school one day when he saw the boy in front of him fall over and drop all of the books he was carrying, along with two sweaters,a basketball and a walkman. Mark stopped and helped the boy pick up these things. Since they were going thesame way,he helped to carry some of his things. As they walked, Mark knew that the boys name was Bill that he loved computer games, basketball and history, that he was having lots of troubles with his other subjects and that he had just broken up with his girlfriend.
They arrived at Bills home first and Mark was invited coke and to watch some television. The afternoon passed happily with a few laughs and some small talk, then Mark went home. They often saw each other at school, had lunch together once or twice, and then they both finished middle school. They ended up in the same high school where they sometimes saw and talked with each other over the years. At last just three weeks before they finished high school,Bill asked Mark if they could talk.
Bill asked Mark if he still remembered the day years ago when they had first met. “Did you ever think why I was carrying so many things home that day?” asked Bill. “You see, I cleaned out my locker because I didnt want to leave anything for anyone else. I had put away some of my mothers sleeping pills and I was going home to kill myself. But after we spent some time together talking and laughing, I began to understand that if I killed myself, I would have missed that time and so many others that might follow. So you see, Mark, when you picked up those books that day,you did a lot more. You saved my life.”
