本刊以馬列主義、毛澤東思想、鄧小平理論和科學(xué)發(fā)展觀為指導(dǎo)，薈萃學(xué)術(shù)思想，追蹤學(xué)術(shù)前沿，展示民族學(xué)研究成果，突出西南民族研究特色，為繁榮民族科學(xué)文化、增強(qiáng)民族團(tuán)結(jié)、加快民族地區(qū)經(jīng)濟(jì)建設(shè)步伐和實(shí)現(xiàn)民族地區(qū)科學(xué)發(fā)展服務(wù)。 我們注重基礎(chǔ)理論的研究和探討，關(guān)注熱點(diǎn)難點(diǎn)問題，倡導(dǎo)理論聯(lián)系實(shí)際的學(xué)風(fēng)，鼓勵(lì)研究現(xiàn)實(shí)問題，特別歡迎大型田野調(diào)查報(bào)告和各類基金課題階段性論文。
