1 Learning a foreign language is a challenge tous. Like lots of English learners, we have met with avariety of difficulties in learning English well. Wordslearning may be the first difficulty as it is hard for usto memorize a large number of words. Then reading and writing ability is another difficulty. Without a good mastery of vocabulary and grammar,we cant understand what the sentences mean in the text and don‘t know how to writean article. However, only if we have a regular study in English learning, can we deal withthem.
2 Here are some methods to improve your skills in learning English, which willhelp you become a better English learner. First of all, study every day. Learning any newlanguage is a timeconsumingprocess. Rather than try a few hours of review once or twice aweek, most experts say short, regular study sessions are more effective. As little as 30minutes a day can help you improve your English skills over time. Whats more, readingEnglish newspapers and books, listening to music or watching TV can not only helpyou develop your reading and speaking skills but also help you know more about theculture. By doing so repeatedly, youll unconsciously improve your pronunciation, grammarand enlarge your vocabulary. Besides, it will help you develop cultural awareness, which isvery important in crossculturalcommunication. Last but not least, repetition is a key tolearning English, and writing exercises is a great way to practice. Take 30 minutes at theend of a day or before sleeping to write down what happened during your day. Once you‘re comfortable writing about your day, challenge yourself and have some fun with creativewriting exercises. You may even discover youve got a talent for writing.
3 Why should we spend hundreds of hours learning English? What we should know isthat learning English is more than just passing an exam or getting a qualification—it opensdoors to new opportunities, helps you to communicate with others and makes travellingoverseas more fulfilling.
