1Chen Zhenglei, Chenjiagous Taijiquan master, was awarded the “Person of the Year of China Intangible Cultural Heritage” in 2020.
2Chen Zhenglei was born in May 1949 at the
birthplace of Taijiquan—Chenjiagou Village, Wen? County, Henan Province, China. He is the 19th generation inheritor (繼承人) of the Chen family and 11th generation direct?line successor of Chen Style Taijiquan. He has held the position of Head Instructor and Principal of Chen Village Taijiquan School, Head Instructor of Wen County Taijiquan Promotion and Development Centre and Vice Director of Henan Province Martial Arts Administration. He has been officially recognized as one of the Top Ten Foremost Martial Artists by the Chinese State Government and has been awarded the honor of National Martial Arts Senior Instructor holding the 9th Duan Wei in Chinese Wushu (Martial Arts) Grading System. He is also a Committee Member of China Physical Culture & Science Institute.
3He has recently established the Chen Zhenglei Taijiquan Culture Co. Ltd. in Zhengzhou City, Henan Province, China to promote Chen Style Taijiquan and help the Taijiquan practitioners worldwide to access his unique training skills. Anyone taking part in his training courses will have the opportunity to learn directly from one of the most skillful Taijiquan masters in the world.
4As part of his Taijiquan life, Chen Zhenglei has published many books and a series of videos, VCDs and DVDs on Taijiquan. Many of those publications have also been translated into other languages, such as English, French, Japanese, Korean and Spanish.
5He went to Japan to teach Taijiquan in 1983, and he has visited more than 60 countries and regions and opened more than 100 teaching centers all over the world. “While we teach Taijiquan around the world, many students not only fall in love with Taijiquan, but they also come to like Chinese calligraphy and philosophy,” Chen Zhenglei said. “If you want to practice Taijiquan well, you must learn Chinese culture.”
