The invention of the motor (發(fā)動(dòng)機(jī)) changed our lives in many ways. People in the early days used horses, sailboats (帆船), and their own feet to travel and carry things. They spent most of their lives in the same neighborhood. They usually didn't go very far from their homes.
People knew each other very well because they often saw each other and depend on each other.
After the invention of the motor in the late 1800s, roads, railroads, and airports developed. People began to travel. They traveled to other places far from home. They left their neighborhoods and went to live in cities. They also often went away on trips.
Because of the motor we can do and see more things.
