◎用法梳理

neither是一個使用頻率較高的單詞，現(xiàn)將其常見用法歸納如下：

一、作代詞，意為“兩者都不”，可單獨(dú)使用，也可與介詞of連用，后接復(fù)數(shù)名詞或代詞。作主語時，謂語動詞用單數(shù)形式或復(fù)數(shù)形式都可以。例如：

Neither of them want / wants to do the dishes. 他們兩個都不想洗餐具。

二、作形容詞，意為“兩者都不”。作定語修飾單數(shù)名詞時，后面的謂語動詞用單數(shù)形式。例如：

Neither answer is right. 兩個答案都不對。

三、作副詞，意為“也不”，此時多用于“neither + be動詞（或情態(tài)動詞） + 主語”結(jié)構(gòu)中，表示前面所述的某種否定情況也適用于另一個人或物。例如：

Linda can’t play the guitar， neither can Kate. 琳達(dá)不會彈吉他，凱特也不會。

四、作連詞，多構(gòu)成neither... nor...結(jié)構(gòu)，意為“既不……也不……”。當(dāng)連接主語時，謂語動詞要與nor后面的主語在人稱和數(shù)上保持一致。例如：

Neither his father nor his mother likes the weather here. 他的父親和母親都不喜歡這里的天氣。
