Ningde Xiawu, NCM Cathode Material Processing Project Was Put Into Operation

Recently, information came from Ningde Xiawu, NCM Cathode Material Processing Project was well installed and tested, and was put into operation. Meanwhile, surrounding buildings such as dormitory building A and B, comprehensive building, quality inspection station and transformer substation were also completed and put into use.

According to information, this project is major project of lithium battery new energy industry chain, mainly for the manufacturing of lithium ion ternary material. It is co-invested by Xiamen Xiawu New Energy Material Co., Ltd. and Fujian Mindong Dianli incorporated company. Covering an area of 240 mu, and boasting total investment of RMB 3100 million, the project will be equipped with capacity of lithium ion cathode material of 40000 tons/year and output value of nearly RMB 10 billion, being the biggest high nickel ternary material production line in our country. This project consists of three phases: Phase 1: an investment of RMB 857 million is planned to construct 4 production lines to realize capacity of lithium ion cathode material of 10000 tons/year, which has been completed and put into operation; phase 2: an investment of RMB 793 million is planned and it is in bidding period. It is going to be put into operation by the end of 2019; phase 3: an investment of RMB 1465 million is planned and the construction will start in April, 2020 and it will be put into operation in June, 2021. When the project reaches design capacity, its annual tax paying volume will be exceeding RMB 300 million.

Based on the introduction from responsible person, cathode material is one of the “Four Major Materials” in lithium battery, accounting for over 40% of total cost. The performance of cathode material directly influences indicators such as energy density, power density and consistency and safety of products, playing the most important role in lithium battery. The project is characterized by high technical content, high technological level and high level of intelligence in equipment and so on, guaranteeing core competitiveness of product in the market.

The reporter was led to a workshop. That place is clean and unmanned production is applied to some crucial production chains. The technician introduced: “We have introduced internationally advanced precise temperature controller and powder making equipment to build a dust-free and smart temperature controlling workshop. Crucial processes on the production line fully apply automatic manipulator for operation, covering transportation, carrying and signal transmitting, thus realizing smart production”, said the technician. Moreover, the project applies developed and advanced preparation method and a collection of advanced technologies to realize high specific capacity, high initial efficiency and favorable cycle performance. The application of smart manufacturing and high-tech equipment well guarantee the quality.
