Aluminum Corporation of China Limited will Construct Longjiang Aluminum and Magnesium Industrial Park

Aluminum Corporation of China (Chalco) has a long-term presence in Longjiang. Northeast Light Alloy Co., Ltd., one of its subsidiaries, is one of the 156 key projects during the national 1st Five-year Plan, which provided crucial materials guarantee for national defense industry and military projects including the first aircraft, the first nuclear-powered submarine and the first carrier rocket of the new China, thus hailed as the “silver backbone of the People's Republic of China” and a genuine time-honored brand in Longjiang. In 2007, Northeast Light Alloy Co., Ltd. was merged into Chalco, becoming the core member of aluminium processing business. According to Yu Dehui, General Manager of Chalco, Chalco has invested and raised a total of over RMB 7 billion to support the restructuring and reorganization of Northeast Light Alloy, including investment of RMB 4.5 billion for north-south line transformation, capital increase of RMB 1 billion for optimizing liability structure, and investment of RMB 0.11 billion to launch the construction of R&D and manufacturing center of deep-processing products; with the facilitation of the restructuring of mid- and high-end products, the matching capacity of industry of Northeast Light Alloy was upgraded and improved, R&D and manufacturing capacity of high-end materials and deep-processing products was significantly improved, the production and sales volume realized growth of over 20% for consecutive 2 years, and the task for supply security of national key materials was successfully fulfilled, driving it into a new development stage. During January - May, 2018, the operating income of Northeast Light Alloy realized YoY increase of 13.3% and the profit realized YoY increase of RMB 69.15 million.

According to Yu Dehui, with the objective of promoting Northeast Light Alloy to transform into the high-end section in the industry chain, Chalco will support the rapid development of enterprises and industry in Longjiang, carry out more extensive cooperation with provincial Party committee and government in terms of upgrading time-honored brands, deeply developing original brands and cultivating new brands, and incubate more pioneering new industry, new pattern and new model. For the specific cooperation projects, the Chalco Longjiang (International) Aluminum and Magnesium Industrial Park co-planned and constructed by Chalco and Harbin Municipality has entered the approval stage, which will become the industry base of the upstream and downstream industry chain of aluminium material application. Meanwhile, Northeast Light Alloy and Harbin Municipality has co-established Northern Special Automobile Co., Ltd., which has completed the R&D of aluminium alloy tank wagons used in highway-railway combined transport, and cooperated with Harbin Tonglian Bus to complete the R&D of aluminium alloy used in new-energy urban buses. Based on aluminum bodywork for passenger vehicles and buses developed by Chalco, Chalco will accelerate the lightweight vehicles and urban facilities project construction to promote the development of lightweight industry cluster in the near future. Meanwhile, the logistics segment of Chalco has entered Longjiang to build Beijiang Logistics Harbour. “I believe that Longjiang will adopt more pioneering perspective and introduce more open policy to seize the golden development opportunities. Chalco will work with provincial Party committee and government to accelerate the construction of high-end magnalium materials and deep-processing industry cluster in Longjiang and support the high-quality development of local economy.” added by Yu Dehui.
