In the modern Chinese painting field， Qi Baishi is a very unique painter who starts the art career late with no education background but excellent skills and great reputation. He is one of the most famous “Beijing drifter painters” of the Republic of China and one of the purest artists of the time. In his entire lifetime， Qi has never had a desire to enter the official circles， and is lazy about socializing and competition with others. He always immerses himself in the experience of art with a pure heart to create simple and innocent works of art.

齊白石1864年生于湖南長沙府湘潭白石鋪杏子塢星斗塘，名純芝，字渭清，又字蘭亭；27歲改名璜，字頻生，別號(hào)白石山人，又號(hào)寄園。在近現(xiàn)代中國畫壇，齊白石是極為獨(dú)特的一位，他“出道”晚、“學(xué)歷”低，卻功力深、名氣大，且十分長壽。他是民國時(shí)最著名的“北漂”畫家之一，也是當(dāng)時(shí)最純粹的藝術(shù)家之一。

幼時(shí)，齊白石從外祖父讀書時(shí)，便常用習(xí)字本、賬薄紙作畫，表現(xiàn)出了一些繪畫天賦。因?yàn)榧揖池毢R白石沒讀過幾年書便去學(xué)習(xí)木工，此后較長一段時(shí)期都以木工為生。然而，做木工之余，他還是以殘本《芥子園》為師，自學(xué)繪畫。

20幾歲時(shí)，齊白石正式拜師學(xué)畫；近40歲起，齊白石開始四方游歷，五出五歸；57歲時(shí)，齊白石正式成了一名“北漂”；60多歲時(shí)，齊白石衰年變法，畫技方有大成。

齊白石的一生，從來沒有入仕愿望，也懶于應(yīng)酬，不管閑事，與世無爭。他始終以一顆純真的心沉浸在藝術(shù)體驗(yàn)之中，方能創(chuàng)造出那許多純粹、質(zhì)樸、充滿童真的藝術(shù)作品。
