My ideas of English teaching

I gained a lot from the book“How to teach English”and I know agood teacher is such a person who should make his/her lessons interesting;who should love his/her job;whohas his/her own personality;who is knowledgeable, humorous, patient,friendly,persuasive,intimate,helpful, attractive…

In short,a good teacher cares more about his/her students learning than they do about his/her own teaching.

In the following,I will talk about some of my ideas about English teaching according to the book and my teaching experience.

For Chinese students, the most challenge thing is to remember a large number of words.So,it is very important for the teacher to help and guide them.

For me,I have three ways to use: First,let students read aloud and read a lot about the text,and understand the meaning of the whole text and each word. Every time,they read,they think about the new words and have more impression.To do this also givesthe students good language feeling and English atmosphere. It is said one stone hit two birds.

Secondly,let the students make sentence with every new word as often as they can.Itnot?only can supervise them to remember new words but also to know the use of the words. You can do this every lesson or other spare time when you meet them.

The last method is to learn to connect new words. For example, when you learn the word?lend,you can remember the word borrow . I mean you can remember a couple of words which have some connections in meaning,spell, pronunciation or something.

To learn English is a hard work. Whatever method you use,the most important thing is to be diligent,when you put your energy on learning English,you will be rich reward.

Teaching English grammar may be a difficult task for two main reasons. First,there are so many delicate variations of the language for children to learn. Second,learning all of these rules can be boring. However,teaching English grammar can be done effectively through the following steps.

Step1

Expose your students to the proper use of English grammar. They will internally develop many grammar rules on their own through exposure to the language.The teachers are suggested to provide this exposure. First and foremost,this means always using proper grammar in your speech and writing.If you don't want your students to make errors in using English,dont make these errors yourself. Also,get your students reading as much as possible. Good writers do a lot of reading.

Step2

Most students will need their own experience to master grammar rules.You must provide your students with ample opportunities to write.Then,provide grammar-based feedback. Take your studentswriting level into account when providing feedback. For example,in a junior first grade classroom,you will see many grammar usage errors.Dont mark up every mistake in red pen;its too discouraging for students.Instead,focus on the grammar rules you have specifically taught.

Step3

Give students opportunities to look through otherswork. Often,when students look at their own writing,they miss grammatical errors because they are the writer,they know what they intended to say. However,those same students can identify similar mistakes in others' writing.To this end,have students review each others work.Also,looking through each other's worksheets provide opportunities for students to apply the grammar rules they have learned.
