Chifeng City Creates National-Level Nonferrous Metals Smelting Processing Base

As “China’s hometown of nonferrous metals”, Chifeng City is the biggest concentration zone in Inner Mongolia’s nonferrous metals industry. Copper resources accounts for 17% of the whole region, lead resource accounts for 35%, zinc resource accounts for 30%, tungsten resource accounts for 42%, tin resource accounts for 88%, molybdenum resource accounts for 15%, gold resource accounts for 39%, silver resource accounts for 44%. Chifeng City has 170 copper mines, which are dominated by Dajingzi Copper Mine in Linxi County; tungsten ore is mainly distributed in Aohan Banner, Keshiketeng Banner; precious metal mines mainly include gold mine, silver mine and platinum and palladium mines, which are distributed in Aohan Banner, Songshan District, Harqin etc; lead zinc mines are distributed in Baarin Left Banner, Ongniod Banner etc.

Up till now, the whole city has 133 metallurgical enterprises above designated size, which fulfilled sales income of 49.68 billion yuan in the first half of 2016. Currently, the whole city has 130,000 tonnes of nonferrous metals daily mining & dressing capacity, annual smelting capacity is 790,000 tonnes, deep processing capacity is 220,000 tonnes. Wherein, daily processing capacity of copper ore is 4900 tones, annual copper metal content is 59,300 tonnes, annual smelting capacity is 400,000 tonnes, copper deep processing capacity is 220,000 tonnes. Daily mining & dressing capacity of lead zinc is 50,000 tonnes, annual smelting capacity of lead is 180,000 tonnes, annual smelting capacity of zinc is 210,000 tonnes. Daily mining & dressing capacity of Iron ore is 170,000 tonnes, crude ore volume is 28.62 million tonnes. By the end of 2015, the whole city had discovered more than 70 varieties of mineral resources, over 1200 orefields, including 25 large to mediumsized mineral deposits. Total proven reserve of key metals are as follows: 300 tonnes of gold, 200,000 tonnes of silver, 3 million tonnes of copper, 15 million tonnes of lead, 20 million tonnes of zinc, 2.50 million tonnes of tin, 300,000 tonnes of tungsten, 3 million tonnes of molybdenum, 600 million tonnes of iron. More than a dozen enterprises with substantial strength including China Nonferrous Metal Mining Group, Sinosteel Group, Tongling Nonferrous Metals, Yunnan Copper Industry, Chinalco Group, Shandong Gold, Dongbei Special Steel Group are continually consolidating Chifeng City’s nonferrous metals industry.
