In the week ending Oct.30, China export box transport market sees cargo volume in most services arise in the peak season before the Christmas Day. Box liners hike freight rate largely in many ocean-going services, but demand/supply condition performs uneven, leading the whole market shaking. On Oct.30, China (Export) Containerized Freight Index (CCFI) issued by Shanghai Shipping Exchange (SSE) quotes 744.44 points, down by 1.0% from one week ago; while Shanghai (Export) Containerized Freight Index (SCFI) issued by SSE surged by 41.1% from last week to 759.00 points.
As it enters into the peak season in the destination region, transport demand has a remarkable improvement in the Europe service. Both the average slot utilization rates in the Europe and Mediterranean services on the Shanghai Port reach above 95%, with some even full loaded. The average spot rate grows largely. On Oct.30, fright rate in the Shanghai to Europe and Mediterranean services (covering seaborne surcharges) quote USD988/TEU and USD804/TEU, surging by 327.7% and 298.0% from one week ago respectively.
In the North America service, transport demand keeps stable, but is overwhelmed by the increasing capacity; finally, the demand/supply condition fails to improve largely. In the week ending Oct.30, both the average slot utilization rates in the USWC and USEC services leaving off Shanghai Port keep around 90%. On Oct.30, freight rate in the Shanghai to USWC and USEC services (covering seaborne surcharges) quote USD1363/FEU and USD2354/FEU, increas- ing by 16.9% and 8.8% from one week ago respectively.
Cargo volume performs stable in the Persian Gulf service, where the average slot utilization rate keeps above 90%. On Oct.30, fright index in the China-Persian Gulf service quotes 594.91 points, almost in line with that last week.
In the Australia service, cargo volume keeps increasing, and demand/supply condition improves, with the average slot utilization rate around 90%. Freight rate keeps firm after increasing, and ?spot rate keeps rising. On Oct.30, freight rate in the Shanghai-Australia service (covering seaborne surcharges) quotes USD652/TEU, growing by 4.5% from one week ago.
Cargo volume has no improvement in the South America service, the average slot utilization rate only around 85%. Impacted by the unbalanced demand/supply condition, freight rate keeps on the lower level. In order to improve profit, some box liners try to hike fright rate, with the whole market stopping slip and starting to rebound. On Oct.30, freight index in the China-South America service has week-on-week increase of 8.1% to 339.35 points.
Transport demand keeps stable in the Japan service, where the average slot utilization rate stands at above 70%, with spot rate firmed. On Oct.30, freight index in the China-Japan service quotes 668.03 points, down by 1.0% from one week ago.
