Henan Nonferrous Metals Industry Association Estimates The Operation Capacity of China’s Aluminum Industry in 2015 Will Grow by 7%
According to Henan Nonferrous Metals Industry Association, it is expected in 2015 the operation capacity of China’s aluminum industry will increase to 31 million tonnes, up by 7% compared with 29 million tonnes in 2014.
The report says in 2015 China’s aluminum oxide operation capacity will be 58 million tonnes, but it does not give the figure in 2014. If the import volume in 2015 reaches 5 million tonnes, then this year the supply and demand of aluminum oxide will be roughly balanced.
The National Bureau of Statistics estimated in 2014 China’s primary aluminum output was 24.50 million tonnes, it is expected the growth rate in 2015 will be 6-7%. According to report of this association, the continued sluggish growth momentum of the Chinese economy will weaken the demand for domestic aluminum in 2015. The report says China may implement relatively loose monetary policy and increase the construction of affordable housing, which will stabilize the demand for aluminum by the construction industry in 2015, it is estimated demand for aluminum from electricity and automobile industry will remain strong. The report expects in 2015 China will have 3.8 million tonnes/year newly added production capacity, about 1.5-2 million tonnes/ year capacity will start production progressively at the end of the first quarter or at the beginning of the second quarter.
