本文講述的是一個生活在紐約的富翁，在妻子和有先天殘疾的兒子死后不久也去世。在他的家產(chǎn)拍賣會上，第一件被拍出物品是一副他兒子的畫像，在沒有人愿意購買的情況下由他的一位窮困的仆人花了5美元買下，意外得到了他的所有財產(chǎn)。通過這個故事說明一個道理：我們一直都在追尋財富，殊不知對他人的點滴關(guān)心才是這個世界上真正的財富。

1. C 邏輯推斷。由上文提到Ronald非常富有，擁有財產(chǎn)幾千萬美元，因此可以推斷他擁有很多的房產(chǎn)、土地、古董等等，用owned。

2. D 邏輯推斷。由Although引導的讓步狀語從句，表轉(zhuǎn)折，盡管他外在（on the outside）什么都有，但是內(nèi)心（on the inside） 還是不開心（unhappy）。
