A Large Copper Lead-Zinc Deposit Found in Qaidam

A large copper-lead-zinc mine has been found in Qaidam basin (known as China’s cornucopia) and is expected to yield 200,000 tons of copper, lead and zinc resources by the end of 2011.
Since 2011, Qinghai Land Resources Department and Qinghai Geological Prospecting Bureau No.3 Institute of Geology and Mineral Resources has invested more than RMB 40 million in promoting geological prospecting, and found a large polymetallic copper-lead-zinc mine in Hutouya region of Haixi Mongol and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture.
According to an official of Qinghai Land Resources Department, the department not only found out characteristics of grade, depth and scale of the copper-lead-zinc mine in the above mentioned areas, but also spotted a group of ore fields valuable for further prospecting. It is estimated that the volume of polymetallic resources in the region will increase by more than 1,000,000 tons by 2015.
