Today was Tex and Indi’s first piano lesson
with Mr. Montoya. As they were leaving, Indi said, “That was fun.”
“You were good at learning that song,” said Tex. “But I couldn’t play it at all.”
“I thought you did a great job,” said Indi.
“Thanks,” said Tex. “But the piano is too hard for me. I’m going to quit.”
“Do me a favor, buddy,” said Mr. Montoya. “Stick with it for three more lessons. Then see what you think. Is it a deal?”
“I guess so,” said Tex.
Tex stuck with the lessons for a whole month.
After the twins’ fourth lesson, Mr. Montoya said, “Well, what do you think, Tex? Do you still want to quit?”
“No way!” said Tex.“The more I play, the better I get. And the better I get, the more fun it is.”
A few months later, Tex and Indi had their first piano recital. They each played two pieces. At the end of the concert, Mom and Dad clapped and clapped.
“Hey, Tex,” whispered Indi, “I’m glad you didn’t give up.”
“Me too.” Tex whispered back.
