一般情況下，介詞后面常接名詞、代詞或動(dòng)名詞等作賓語(yǔ)，有時(shí)我們也能看到介詞+介詞短語(yǔ)的現(xiàn)象，但并非任何介詞都可以這樣用。下面介紹幾種這類用法。

1. from + 介詞短語(yǔ)

① When I got to the house， a dog suddenly rushed out from behind the door.

② The boy took out a ball from under the bed and went to the playground in a hurry.

③ He waved at me from across the street.

2. except + 介詞短語(yǔ)

① I looked everywhere except in the bedroom.

② He usually goes to work by bike except on raining days.

③ There was no direct route except through the centre of the city.

3. till / until + 介詞短語(yǔ)

① He won’t go over his lessons till / until before the examination.

② He watched TV till / until after his father’s return.

4. since + 介詞短語(yǔ)

① I have known Mr. Wang since before liberation.

② He hasn’t come back to his home town since after his going to college.

5. instead + 介詞短語(yǔ)

① He goes to work on foot instead of by bus.

② The teacher told his students to do their homework in class instead of at home.
