I am a course instructor of the international business program at Beijing Union University and have lived in Beijing since 2006.Browsing the website ofChina Today, I found the columns “East Meets West” and “Economy/Tech” very informative and interesting.I like the two stories “The Scot Who Defends China” and“Mark Levine: Let’s Sing Songs about China” very much.Mark Levine, a professor at Minzu University of China, and I have been friends for some time.I know that he has built a bridge between Chinese and Western cultures through his writings and country music melodies he composed about China. With the doctorate degree in international business that I hold, I also hope to present a real, dynamic, and modern China to the world by sharing an eye-witness and down-to-earth account of how the Chinese society is changing and the economy is growing in sync with the world, and in some fields, the country has even become a pacesetter and trendsetter. This is why I am particularly interested in reading the “Economy/Tech” column.I like the article titled “PowerChina:Building Model Water Projects in Bangladesh” focusing on what PowerChina has been doing in Bangladesh.PowerChina not only wants to transform sewage into clean water through a treating process, but also brings green energy to local people. This mature Chinese technology is used to improve the water resources and water environment of Bangladesh. Therefore, I hopeChina Todaywill run more reports about projects underway within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) in the future.Personally, I am always looking for more information about the BRI, from the touching human stories to specific statistics. If I was asked to give some advice toChina Today, I would suggest that more infographics about the BRI be reported on, including things like timelines of signatures of MOUs, descriptions of projects undertaken, and stories of common people whose lives have been deeply affected by the BRI.

I am the global policy officer at the International Bamboo and Rattan Organization (INBAR),a multilateral intergovernmental institution headquartered in Beijing.I believe that environmental protection and climate change are issues of great concern to the current generation.Recently I read the articles titled “Carbon Sinks:Generating Revenue Through Eco-Preservation” and “The Hydrogen Energy Era” in the column of “Going Green” inChina Today.I am thrilled to know that a high-end hydrogen equipment manufacturing and application demonstration zone is gearing up to meet the hydrogen market demands of Beijing. So far as I know, hydrogen is a clean secondary energy that can be easily stored, is renewable, and has wide sources, while at the same time discharges zero carbon emissions. It is becoming a new key to solving the energy crisis and building a clean, safe, and efficient modern energy system.I hope that China’s hydrogen energy industry will become a new economic growth pole in the future.
