Waterwheels are an irrigation tool that originated in Lanzhou, Gansu province, nearly five centuries ago by the Yellow River to direct water to farmland. The citys traditional waterwheel-making technique is famous.

The improved environment and quality of water in Baihe River in Nanyang county of central Chinas Henan province over the last few years has attracted thousands of egrets.
