“The so-called ‘debt trap in africa is not a fact， but a malicious hypeup by some people. it is an ‘utterance trap created by those forces that do not want to see africa speed up development. if there is any ‘trap in africa， it is the ‘poverty trap and the ‘underdevelopment trap， which africa should get rid of as soon as possible. – State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi refuted the so-called “debt trap”allegation in China-Africa cooperation while meeting the press in Mombasa， Kenya on January 6.

“China has always advocated the idea that ‘a(chǎn) nuclear war cannot be won and must never be foughtand has been playing an effective leading role in promoting the five states to take joint actions. During the consultation process of the joint statement， China also pushed for the inclusion of such key content as reaffirming that none of our nuclear weapons are targeted at each other or any other state. This played an important role in reaching a positive and substantial statement among the five states.”– Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu made the remarks in a media interview about the Joint Statement of the Leaders of the Five Nuclear-Weapon States on Preventing Nuclear War on January 3.

Xi Addresses 2022 WEF Virtual Session

At the 2022 World Economic Forum Virtual Session held on January 17， 2022， Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered a speech titled “Forge Ahead with Confidence and Fortitude to Jointly Create a Better Post-COVID World.”

Xi called on the international community to do everything necessary to clear the shadow of the pandemic and boost economic and social recovery and development， so that the sunshine of hope may light up the future of humanity. President Xi then made the following suggestions：

Fourth， we need to discard Cold War mentality and seek peaceful coexistence and win-win outcomes. Protectionism and unilateralism can protect no one； they ultimately hurt the interests of others as well as ones own. Even worse are the practices of hegemony and bullying， which run counter to the tide of history. The right way forward for humanity is peaceful development and win-win cooperation. Chinese VP Meets French Presidents Diplomatic Counselor

Chinese Vice President Wang Qishan hailed China-France bilateral relations during a virtual meeting with Emmanuel Bonne， diplomatic counselor to French President Emmanuel Macron， in Beijing on January 13.

Wang said that under the guidance of the two heads of state， relations between China and France have maintained a healthy and stable development momentum.
