“That's all of tonight's party, and thanks again for attending the dubbing contest.” As the four hosts gave a final bow and the PowerPoint switched to the last page, the entire lecture hall burst into applause and cheers. What happened? Well, the story began a week ago.
Our school was holding a dubbing contest and many students formed teams and registered for the preliminary contests. At the same time, word came that hosts for the final round were being elected. I hesitated for a long time since I wanted to try both. Finally, I chose to run for the host and I made it,which made me think that hosting was going to be easy, but I soon realized what a big mistake I had made.
The biggest problem was the limit of time. The moment I met my three partners, we realized that we almost had to rewrite the entire script used last year due to its poor grammar and bad collocation.Apparently, we had to work on a tight schedule to get the job done. Luckily, it turned out that the four of us were quite a team. Grace, who was outstanding in writing, managed to finish that long script based on the hosting procedures created by the other two, while I made the PowerPoint of the opening ceremony. Everything seemed to go well, but something unexpected happened.
It was a total mess when we were doing the rehearsal the day before the contest. Not only did we fail to follow the procedures of the ceremony, but also many lines in the script could not go with the procedures. We made full use of every break to fix the problems. Not until the last minute before the contest did we finish all the changes. That was really a huge challenge for all four of us.
Fortunately, the dubbing competition was quite successful. Our voices travelled calmly through the air, passing our passion and confidence to every member of the audience. Except for a few mistakes, the show went on smoothly one after another. After all the competitors got scored for their performances and teachers gave their comments, we announced the end of the ceremony.
The summit is also the beginning. Indeed, after the dubbing contest, not only I but also my classmates have learned to step out of our comfort zones, challenging ourselves with new fields and gaining friendship with peers in our schools and beyond.
