歷史上從不曾有哪個(gè)時(shí)刻哪個(gè)國(guó)家像現(xiàn)在這樣，將多數(shù)的高等學(xué)位頒發(fā)給女性。自人類文明以來，在不到100年前，女人在這些學(xué)校里，還只能當(dāng)清潔工，但是不久之后，女性就拿到了大部分的法律、醫(yī)學(xué)學(xué)位。在世界各地，過去被當(dāng)成財(cái)產(chǎn)的貧窮婦女們，現(xiàn)在開始擁有自己的財(cái)產(chǎn);《經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)家》更指出，在過去的20年里，女性勞動(dòng)力的增加是工業(yè)國(guó)家經(jīng)濟(jì)成長(zhǎng)的主要驅(qū)動(dòng)力。她們對(duì)于全球GDP增長(zhǎng)所作出的貢獻(xiàn)，甚至超過了任何新技術(shù)，也超過了諸如中國(guó)或印度等經(jīng)濟(jì)新興的國(guó)家這些。女性晉升時(shí)遭遇的無形阻礙已不復(fù)存在，女性的家庭地位也大幅提升，法院和議會(huì)也消除了對(duì)女性的歧視。

27年前，我在瓦薩學(xué)院也做了個(gè)演講，大獲成功。所有人都很喜歡。湯姆·布羅考說那是他聽過的最好的畢業(yè)致辭。我當(dāng)然相信這是他的肺腑之言。那篇演講稿比起今天這篇來說容易起草很多。因?yàn)槟莻€(gè)時(shí)候我經(jīng)歷的不少。我剛剛生了孩子，得了兩個(gè)奧斯卡獎(jiǎng)，一切都很順利。那時(shí)的我很聰明能干，知道什么樣的聲音最動(dòng)聽，我可是拉拉隊(duì)長(zhǎng)出身啊，竭盡全力的喝彩加油是我的特長(zhǎng)。但如今，我覺得自己懂得的東西，大概只有你們年輕女孩們的 1/16吧。對(duì)于世事，我不再像以往那么確定。我今年60歲，4個(gè)孩子都已經(jīng)成年，也和你們面臨著一樣的挑戰(zhàn)。不過盡管如此，對(duì)于很多我始終沒搞懂，但還是很好奇的事情，我卻變得更加樂觀。

要是講講對(duì)成功、聲譽(yù)、成名的看法，我還能再做一次演講。這些東西會(huì)使你和朋友的關(guān)系變得生疏，會(huì)使你看不清現(xiàn)實(shí)。這些東西會(huì)奪走你寶貴的隱私和無名愜意，要不是失去它們，你都不會(huì)知道自己還曾經(jīng)擁有過。成名這些東西影響著你家人的正常生活，所以成不成名真的是無所謂。我清楚我今天能來到這兒給你們講話也是因?yàn)槲液艹雒?，我得了很多?jiǎng)，我也很自豪能有今天的成就，但是，說真的，這些都不是我一個(gè)的功勞。我可以肯定地說，獲獎(jiǎng)對(duì)我人生的幸福沒起多大作用。我對(duì)幸福和價(jià)值的看法是，要充滿感情地去研究這個(gè)世界，通過我的表演去體驗(yàn)別人的人生。所以我要保持警醒，對(duì)生活充滿熱情，投入到我愛的人的生活當(dāng)中，去幫助世界上需要我?guī)椭娜恕Ｄ銈冊(cè)陔娨暽峡吹轿遗d高采烈，手捧獎(jiǎng)杯時(shí)的所作所說，其實(shí)都是在表演。

成名讓我學(xué)會(huì)躲避，而作為一名演員，我又學(xué)會(huì)了打開自己的心靈。

今天來這兒做演講，促使我審視內(nèi)心，與你們分享在我看來有用的東西。我真的很感激能有這個(gè)機(jī)會(huì)，感謝你們。

你們要明白，其實(shí)不必非得成名，只要讓父母為你感到驕傲，就已經(jīng)足夠。而這一點(diǎn)，你們都已經(jīng)做到了。為你們喝彩！祝賀你們！

Never before in the history or country have most of the advanced degrees been awarded to women but now they are. Since the dawn of man， its hardly more than 100 years since we were even allowed into these buildings except to clean them but soon most of law and medical degrees will probably also go to women. Around the world， poor women now own property who used to be property and according to Economist magazine， for the last ，two decades， the increase of female employment in the rich world has been the main driving force of growth. Those women have contributed more to global GDP growth than have either new technology or the new giants India or china. Cracks in the ceiling， cracks in the door， cracks in the Court and on the Senate floor.

You know， I gave a speech at Vassar 27 years ago. It was a really big hit. Everyone loved it， really. Tom Brokaw said it was the very best commencement speech he had ever heard and of course I believed this. And it was much easier to construct than this one. It came out pretty easily because back then I knew so much. I was a new mother， I had two A academy awards and it was all coming together so nicely. I was smart and I understood boiler plate and what sounded good and because I had been on the squad in high school， earnest full-throated cheerleading was my specialty so thats what I did but now， I feel like I know about 1/16th of what that young woman knew. Things dont seem as certain today. Now Im 60， I have four adult children who are all facing the same challenges you are. Im more sanguine about all the things that I still dont know and lm still curious about.

What I do know about success， fame， celebrity——that would fill another speech. How it separates you from your friends， from reality， from proportion. Your own sweet anonymity， a treasure you dont even know you have until its gone. How it makes things tough for your family and whether being famous matters one bit， in the end， in the whole flux of time. I know I was invited here because of that. How famous I am. How many awards Ive won and while I am overweeningly proud of the work that， believe me， I did not do on my own. I can assure that awards have very little bearing on my own personal happiness. My own sense of well-being and purpose in the world-that comes from studying the world feelingly， with empathy in my work. It comes from staying alert and alive and involved in the lives of the people that I love and the people in the wider world who need my help. No matter what you see me or hear me saying when Im on your TV holding a statuette spewing， thats acting.

Being a celebrity has taught me to hide but being an actor has opened my soul.

Being here today has forced me to look around inside there for something useful that I can share with you and Im really grateful you gave me the chance.

You know you dont have to be famous. You just have to make your mother and father proud of you and you already have. Bravo to you. Congratulations.
