The next day is Friday and I go to school again. I go to this class not only because of our teacher. I like this class because there are students from many different countries in our class. Some students are from Europe. Some students are from South America. There is also one student from Japan and one from South Korea in my class. This is good for me because the students dont speak my native2 language. When I speak to them， I have to use English. It is very good for my practice.

第二天是星期五，我再次上學(xué)。我上這堂課不僅是因為我們的老師。我喜歡這堂課，因為我們班上有來自許多不同國家的學(xué)生，有些學(xué)生來自歐洲，有些學(xué)生來自南美。我班上還有一位來自日本的學(xué)生和一位來自韓國的學(xué)生。這對我有好處，因為他們不會說我的母語。當(dāng)我和他們說話時，我只能使用英語。這對我的練習(xí)非常好。

Today， we have another new student in our class. Her name is Sofia. She is from Argentina3. At the beginning of the lesson， Sofia says that she doesnt have a talent for studying languages， but she wants to work hard to improve4.

今天，我們班上又有一位新生。她的名字叫索非亞，她來自阿根廷。在課程開始時，索非亞說她沒有學(xué)習(xí)語言的天賦，但她想努力提高自己。

My teacher asks her， “Why do you think that you dont have a talent？” She answers， “I think that I dont have a talent because my sister learns English very fast but for me it is difficult.”

我的老師問她：“為什么你認為自己沒有天賦？”她回答說：“我認為我沒有天賦是因為我姐姐學(xué)英語的速度非?？?，但對我來說卻很困難?！?/p>

Then our teacher asks everybody in the class， “Do you think that you have a talent for learning languages？ Please put your hand up if you believe that you have a talent.”

然后我們老師問全班同學(xué)：“你們認為自己有學(xué)習(xí)語言的天賦嗎？如果你相信自己有，請舉起手來?！?/p>

I look around the class and nobody puts their hands up.

我環(huán)顧全班，沒人舉手。

My teacher smiles， then she says， “Now， I want to tell you something. Many people think that you need to have a talent if you really want to learn a new language. I agree5. But I also believe that you already have a talent for learning languages.

老師笑了，然后她說：“現(xiàn)在，我想告訴你們，許多人認為，如果你確實想學(xué)習(xí)一種新語言，需要有天賦。我同意。但是我也相信你已經(jīng)具備了學(xué)習(xí)語言的天賦。

Why do you have a talent？ You have a talent because you already learnt one language， which is your native language. You were successful6 at learning your native language and you speak that language fluently7. All people who are able to learn their native language have a talent for learning languages.

你為什么有天賦？你之所以具有天賦，是因為你已經(jīng)學(xué)習(xí)了一種語言，這就是你的母語。你成功地學(xué)習(xí)了母語，并且語言表達很流利。所有能學(xué)習(xí)母語的人都有學(xué)習(xí)語言的天賦。

Why do many students believe that they are not talented？ The reason is this. There are people who are super-talented. Yes， it is true. These super-talented people remember new words very fast. Maybe you know these people. Maybe it is somebody at your work or in your family. There are not many of these people but they are real. I believe that this can be Sofias sister as well. Learning a new language is fun for these people and they can do it easily.”

為什么許多學(xué)生認為自己沒有天賦？原因是這樣的。有些人非常有天賦。是的，是真的。這些超級有天賦的人很快就能記住新單詞。也許你認識這些人，也許是你的同事或者家人。這些人并不多，但他們真的存在。我相信這也可能是索非亞的姐姐。學(xué)習(xí)新語言對這些人來說很有趣，他們可以輕松地做到這一點?！?/p>

Sofia says that it is true， that her sister is really better than everyone else.

索非亞說，沒錯，她姐姐真的比其他任何人都出色。

Our teacher goes on， “It is true that these super-talented people are real. It is a fact and we cannot do anything about it. But it is not a problem. The problem is that we compare8 ourselves to these people and if we dont learn as fast as they do， we will think that we are not talented. I want to tell you one thing. Please do not compare yourself to these super-talented people. Yes， they are lucky and they have an advantage9， but you can be lucky too and you are super-talented at doing other things. Maybe you are more talented than others when you learn to sing， swim， play tennis， count numbers， cook， or repair cars. People are not all the same. It is a beauty10 of this world.

老師繼續(xù)說道：“這些超級人才確實存在。這是事實，我們對此無能為力。但是這不是問題。問題是，我們將自己與這些人進行比較，如果我們沒有像他們那樣快地學(xué)習(xí)，就會認為自己沒天賦。我想告訴你一件事，請不要將自己與這些天才相提并論。是的，他們很幸運而且有優(yōu)勢，但是你也可以很幸運，并且你在其他事情上很有天賦。當(dāng)你學(xué)習(xí)唱歌、游泳、打網(wǎng)球、數(shù)數(shù)、做飯或修理汽車時，也許你比其他人更有天賦。人們不盡相同。這是世界的美好之處。

Now， you can believe that you are also talented， maybe not super-talented， but talented. When you believe that you are talented， learning English will be easier for you.”

現(xiàn)在，你可以相信自己也很有天賦，也許不是超級有天賦，而是才華橫溢。如果你相信自己有天賦，那么學(xué)習(xí)英語對你來說就會更容易?！?/p>

These words from our teacher are very helpful for us. I know that I am talented at playing football and tennis. Now I know that I am also talented at learning English. It is great.

老師的這些話對我們很有幫助。我知道我擅長踢足球和網(wǎng)球，現(xiàn)在我知道我在英語學(xué)習(xí)方面也很有天賦。這太好了。
