Born in Shanghai， calligrapher Gu Benjian learned calligraphy from Gao Shixiong and Liu Xiaoqing. He now serves as the curator of Shanghai Badaitou Calligraphy and Painting Academy， curator of Ningyunhan Calligraphy and Painting Art Museum， a member of Shanghai Calligraphers Association， and the Vice Chairman of Shanghai China and The West Art Association. He is the National First Level calligrapher. In 2011， he obtained the title of “Outstanding Contemporary Artist”in the 4th China-Japan Friendship Art Exchange Activity. His calligraphy artworks presented strong and unrestrained spirit with excellent technique of writing. With mature skills， Gu Benjian now has won many awards. In a recent auction in Hongkong， his artwork was traded at a high price of HKD 600， 000.

上海書(shū)法家顧本建，師從高式熊和劉小晴老師，現(xiàn)任上海八埭頭書(shū)畫(huà)院院長(zhǎng)、凝云翰書(shū)畫(huà)藝術(shù)館館長(zhǎng)、上海書(shū)法家協(xié)會(huì)會(huì)員，上海中西美協(xié)副主席、國(guó)家一級(jí)書(shū)法師。2011年在第四屆中日友好文化藝術(shù)交流中被授予“當(dāng)代杰出藝術(shù)家”稱(chēng)號(hào)。2013年與多名書(shū)畫(huà)藝術(shù)家共同為中央黨校創(chuàng)作了《民族復(fù)興中華魂》并以行楷書(shū)體書(shū)寫(xiě)序跋。2015年受陳云紀(jì)念館邀請(qǐng)為紀(jì)念陳云同志誕辰110周年詩(shī)詞楹聯(lián)獲獎(jiǎng)作品全文書(shū)寫(xiě)。顧本建書(shū)法行筆剛健瀟灑，筆法精湛，疾中有滯，或飄逸或凝練，一派古樸典雅的盛唐氣象。行書(shū)如行云流水，韻味純厚，自成一體，楷書(shū)端莊秀雅，功力頗厚。且布局于參差中求自然，于錯(cuò)落中求流貫，大大增添了小楷章法的情趣。顧本建亦擅長(zhǎng)山水和花卉，作品受到海內(nèi)外收藏家的追捧。而今，顧本建的書(shū)法技藝日臻成熟，先后被評(píng)為上?！鞍倜忻駮?shū)法家”“中日文化交流特使”“滬浙地區(qū)最受藏界歡迎的年度藝術(shù)家”“當(dāng)代杰出藝術(shù)家”“中國(guó)傳統(tǒng)文化最高成就獎(jiǎng)”等獎(jiǎng)項(xiàng)。顧本建熱衷于公益活動(dòng)，把幾十年的經(jīng)歷投身在中國(guó)傳統(tǒng)文化的傳承和發(fā)揚(yáng)光大上，是一位品正才厚的書(shū)法家。
