Recently the denitrification additive RDNOx-PC2 and the enhanced sulfur transfer agent RFS09, which are developed by the SINOPEC Research Institute of Petroleum Processing (RIPP), have been successfully applied in the FCC unit at the SINOPEC Anqing Petrochemical Branch Company (APBC) in order to effectively control the concentration of NOxand SOxin the flue gas to meet the environment regulations.
At present the modifications in the process technology and feedstock quality of the FCC unit at APBC have resulted in signi ficant increase of NOxand SOxcontent in flue gas. There is no flue gas post-treatment facility in the FCC unit, which increases the risk of excessive emission of pollutants and has proposed an urgently demand for trying out the novel desulfurization and denitrification additives in the FCC unit.
The denitrification additive RDNOx-PC2 adopts the unique active centers in the compound metals coupled with highly stable support to achieve high catalytic activity for reductive conversion of nitrides to significantly reduce the NOx formation. The enhanced sulfur transfer agent RFS09 can specifically increase the active component MgO content, while concurrently adjusting the content of oxygen storage component capable of increasing the SOxremoval rate in a low excess oxygen or even oxygen de ficient environment.
In order to mitigate the risk related with unattainment of online environmental monitoring data, RIPP, APBC, and the SINOPEC Catalyst Company (SCC) have formed a joint task force engaging in actively coordinating all parties and overcoming transportation and logistics difficulties to purchase raw materials, while implementing the on-site production supervision and arranging special vehicle delivery to ensure the supply of desulfurization and denitrification agents. By the end of March in 2020, RIPP and SCC had sent experts to APBC to conduct the on-site measurements of flue gas, data analysis,on-site adjustment of operating parameters and optimization of the scheme for application of the desulfurization and denitrification agents. In early April, the concentration of SO2in flue gas discharged from the regenerator was less than 20 mg/m3coupled with a less than 50 mg /m3of NOxin flue gas to stably meet the requirements of environmental protection limit, which could ensure the safety and environmental protection operation of FCC unit at full load in the first quarter of 2020.Upon adoption of the said desulfurization and denitri fication agents in FCC unit, it is estimated that the reduction of NOx and SOx emissions in the flue gas from the FCC unit at APBC can reach 100 metric tons a year.
