The SINOPEC envisaged technology development project“Key technology development of nylon 6 suited for highspeed spinning” jointly undertaken by the SINOPEC Research Institute of Petroleum Processing (RIPP) and the China Textile Academy (CTA) has successfully completed and passed the review and appraisal organized by the SINOPEC Science and Technology Division.
Nylon 6 fiber is one of the most important kinds of polyamide fibers. High-speed spinning (with a spinning speed of 4000―6000 m/min) has become the main mode for production of high-end Nylon 6 products.Caprolactam is a monomer for the polymerized production of nylon 6 fibers. The textile industry circle recognizes that the products which can meet the premiumquality norms speci fied in the national standard are highquality caprolactam. However, when such high-quality caprolactam is used in high-speed spinning, problems of different degrees still occur. Hence, monitoring and controlling the quality of caprolactam products by using the existing national standard for premium-quality product indexes cannot accurately characterize the quality requirements of high-speed spinning. Therefore,it is necessary to study and formulate the key quality indicators of caprolactam suited for high-speed spinning .After years of unremitting efforts, the research teams have successfully completed the research goal of the project “Key technology development of nylon 6 suited for high-speed spinning”. The experts after evaluating the research outcome have unanimously agreed that the research staffs have analyzed the key factors that can affect the internal quality of caprolactam through developing and establishing a system for evaluating the internal quality of caprolactam that can provide a new route for clarifying the difference rlating to the internal quality of caprolactam products of the same grade. The key quality indicators of caprolactam suited for high-speed melt spinning, which are characteristic of an innnovative nature,have been established. At the same time, the project will fill in the blank of quality monitoring and control technology in the industrial production process of caprolactam suited for highspeed spinning, which can help to promote the overall quality level of domestic caprolactam products in order to meet the needs for development of the high-end nylon 6 industry.
