The Crop Journalis a bi-monthly, international, peer-reviewed research journal co-sponsored by Crop Science Society of China, Institute of Crop Sciences, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences,and China Science Publishing & Media Group Ltd. (Science Press).
The major aims of the journal are to report the recent progresses in the disciplines of crop breeding, crop genetics, crop cultivation, crop physiology, germplasm resources, grain chemistry,biotechnology and biomathematics related to crops, etc. The strict peer-review procedure guarantees the academic level and helps raise the reputation of the journal.
The Editor-in-Chief is Professor Jianmin Wan, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering,Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and Executive Vice President of the Crop Science Society of China, supported by the Editorial Board of over one hundred international experts from various fields of crop sciences.

The Journal is now covered by SCIE, CABI, DOAJ, Scopus, AGRIS (FAO), and Food Science and Technology Abstracts, etc. As indicated by the annual Journal Citation Reports released by Clarivate Analytics on June 20, 2019, The Crop Journal got its second impact factor of 3.179, ranked 14th among 89 agronomy journals and 42th among 228 botanical journals.
