[Abstract] Objective To study the serum procalcitonin level and evaluate the degree of nosocomial infection and prognosis in premature infants. Methods 68 premature infants with nosocomial infection in our hospital were selected as subjects from January 2016 to January 2018. All of them were tested for serum procalcitonin level. According to the test results, they were divided into mild infection group, moderate infection group and severe infection group. The neonatal critical scores of the three groups were measured, and the prognostic effects of the three groups were observed and analyzed. Results Serum procalcitonin levels were evaluated in 68 children, 26 were mild infection, 23 were convenient moderately infected, 19 were severely infected, and serum procalcitonin was high in severely infected group. In the mild infection group and the moderate infection group, the serum procalcitonin level in the moderate infection group was higher than that in the mild infection group. The difference between the groups was significant(P<0.05). Comparing the neonatal critical scores of the three groups, the scores of the severe infection group were lower than those of the mild infection group and the moderate infection group. The scores of the moderate infection group were lower than those of the mild infection group. The differences between the groups were significant(P<0.05). Comparing the prognosis of the three groups, the survival rate of the mild infection group was higher than that of the moderate infection group and the severe infection group. The survival rate of the moderate infection group was higher than that of the severe infection group. Differences between groups were significant(P<0.05). Conclusion By analyzing the serum procalcitonin level in premature infants with nosocomial infection, the degree of infection can be effectively differentiated. The prognosis of children with different infection levels shows that the more severe the infection, the lower the survival rate.
