Hundreds of Americans die each year in electricity-related accidents. Thousands more are badly hurt. Here are a few tips on keeping safe.

每年有數(shù)百名美國人死于電力事故，還有數(shù)千人受了重傷。以下是確保安全用電的幾點提示。

①Never touch a downed power line or climb a utility pole1.

千萬不要觸摸下垂的電線，千萬別爬電線桿。

②Never touch anything electrical with wet hands or while standing in water.

千萬不要用濕手觸摸任何帶電的東西，也不要站在水中觸摸任何電器。

③Dont use frayed2 or broken cords3 or plugs4 that are missing a prong5.

不要使用磨損或破裂的電線以及缺插片的插頭。

④Keep metal objects such as silverware6 away from plugs.

銀器等金屬物品要遠離插頭。

⑤Dont overload7 sockets8.

不要讓插座超載。

⑥Pull by the plug， not the cord.

要拔插頭，不要拉電線。

⑦Dont fly kites near power lines.

不要在電線附近放風箏。
