Chinas first polar observation satellite， the BNU-1， has successfully obtained data on polar regions. The satellite is conducting full-coverage observation of the Antarctic and the Arctic every day. It will help reduce Chinas reliance on foreign satellites for polar observation data. It has great significance in promoting the research of polar regions and global climate change.

●Sanxingdui Ruins-themed cartoon aired on China Central Television

A cartoon series themed on the prehistoric Sanxingdui Ruins in southwest Chinas Sichuan Province began airing on state broadcaster China Central Television. The cartoon， Sanxingdui Glory Awakening， has 52 episodes. It was earlier broadcast on online video platforms and was popular among young Chinese audiences. The adventure cartoon， which features many bronze wares from the Sanxingdui Ruins， focuses on the unsolved mystery of the ruins and seeks to explore the mysterious civilization behind them.

Listed among Chinas top 10 archaeological findings of the 20th century， the Sanxingdui Ruins， are believed to be remnants of the Shu Kingdom that disappeared under mysterious circumstances some 3，000 years ago.

●Hybrid rice research base opens in south China

An 83.3-hectare research base for hybrid rice breeding was inaugurated on October 9 in Guanyang County， southern Chinas Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Yuan Longping， Chinas “father of hybrid rice”， said at the unveiling ceremony that his team would work to increase the output of hybrid rice as well as to improve its quality. He added that his workstation is located in Guanyang because the county has a very high yield of super hybrid rice and ratoon rice.

The ancient city， which is spread over 650，000 square meters， was discovered in archeological excavations in the Sharon region， near the new city of Harish. According to archaeologists， the findings allow， for the first time， to define the ancient cultural characteristics of this area， and the remains exposed indicate an organized society and a social hierarchy.
